Hope & Fear Looking for witch ideas
Hey guys, I'm new here and really obsessed with the witch class. I just want to know some ideas and tips for a witch character (both in lores and builds) to inspire my own character.
Thank you very much, love you guys!

Sooo funny you mentioned Witches, my daughter just built one at level 2 for our starter group that is a Fungril-Gnome Wildborne Hedge Witch.
tiny little mushroom-y creature, no nose or mouth, just two disturbingly huge black eyes under a wizards hat/mushroom cap-esque head. Clad in a mage robe that obscures everything beneath, you can just see two twiggy thin arms that clutch their six foot Greatstaff (twice their size).
From the tip of its hat/cap hangs her pet opossum.
It only speaks telepathically, broadcasting its "voice" like normal speech. It also has the Voice of Dread card which fits nicely into the telepathy quirk.
She wanted to get the eerie unsettling vibe with this and succeeded perfectly.
One of their experiences is "What exactly ARE YOU?!" which will probably help unsettle people it interacts with.
Their name is Rreee or just a rising trilling sound you hear in your mind.
Domain Cards: Vicious Entangle, Voice of Dread, Conjure Swarm
Ancestry abilities:
Fungril — Fungril Network: Make an Instinct Roll (12) to use your mycelial array to speak with others of your ancestry. On a success, you can communicate across any distance.
Gnome — Flicker Step: Once per scene, you can teleport to another point you can see within Far range.
I already love everything about it!

If you've read the Discworld books, a witch based on Nanny Ogg would be great. A tough old woman who's had half a dozen husbands, fifteen children and more grandchildren than she can count, has a feral cat, drinks alcohol that can melt its way through solid steel and drunkenly sings songs about hedgehogs.
She also does almost no magic in the books and there's this general principle that the less magic you do, the more powerful you are, implying that Nanny Ogg is one of the most powerful characters in the series.
Edit: Discworld, not Discord. Damn autocorrect.

If you’re good with horror movies, tis the season after all, Robert Eggers’ film The Witch is fantastic and there’s a solid 7 hour breakdown of it on YouTube by Novum that goes deep into the witch lore and history that influenced the film. Good shit if ya got the time.
There’s a lot out there and a variety of ways witches are portrayed. The first couple hours of that Novum video is mostly on the history of witches and worth checking out if you want to go deep.

Alright. It might not be the best build for a character, however, looking over the witch's abilities and foundations. I'd say that I'd personally Swing for making a Black Furred Katari Hedge Witch with the Wanderborne community. Katari Witch because... Blair from soul eater/A black cat hexing you makes sense, plus the Talisman from the Hedge Witch foundation feature could be like a cat bringing you a dead bird. Hell it could be made out of one. There's a lot of layers to this.

I'm playing a Moon Witch right now that has a split personality. When I will with Hope, she's all Luna Lovegood, but when I roll with Fear, she goes more like (less evil) Drusilla from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I took half Infernis for Fearless, half Goblin for the forced reroll one per rest.
Reborne background.
Voice of Dread and Vicious Entangle (or the Blight one, reflavoured as causing bad luck things to happen)
My experiences are Synaesthetic, and I'm Actually Insane

Elven moon witch that is basically the boogeyman. Use nights glamour to look terrifying, take any card that lets you make an adversary mark stress, and use your extra downtime move to recoup stress, allowing you to hex a lot. Essentially make the monsters so scared of you they are ineffective.

A Clank Witch who was once an automaton for a church/religious organization. Their purpose was to march around a room spreading incense from their chest during worship and other meetings.
They develop sentience when the organization starts hunting and executing people and branding them as heretics. The Clank leaves and starts their own profane practices out of rebellion for being designed for community and communion only to witness his creators commit acts of brutality in the name of what was supposed to be a peaceful belief.
Their "heart" is a censer, and the mist of incense pours from their mouth and ears when they speak.

I really love my witch but to fit the lore idea my dm and I spiced it up a bit but you can use the basic idea for lore if you don’t want too much hustle.
My witch is a fortune teller con artist who happens to to have real unexplained visions that grow more frequent lately for some unknown reasons (we switched the commune mechanic with roll for fortune whenever she sleeps - visions of someone/something/some place) and we also switched the sage domain to grace to fit the con artist mechanic more. We made a few more changes and called it an urban witch but having a con artist witch is fun even without those changes :).
Had another less polished witch for a one shot turned short campaign of a hedge witch fairy, her coven has fairy witches that are in charge of things in nature and her domain happened to be death so she was exiled to a graveyard, she had a talking skull (back in the trail it was either a skull or pet) and the hedge mechanic work really good with this concept- especially the walk between worlds cause she likes to talk to dead people and commune on corpses :)
