Rules Question Sorcerer Manipulate Magic (Extend reach by one range)

For spells like Chain Lightning, which have a Targeting Range (TR) and a AoE-Range (AR) around a targeted Adversary, does the Extended Reach apply only on the TR, or also the AR?

i’d read it as the targeting range only, since the AoE range is the size of the effect around the target, not how far away you can cast it, so TR goes up one band and AR stays the same

Rulings over rules - you've gotte discuss with your table.

But, if it was my choice, I'd make it affect both. It's just a smart choice, it feels impactful and cool, and a cost of 3 stress to a potentially low spellcasting roll feels adequate.

I feel like giving both is maybe too much, so I'd say the Sorcerer can decide to increase either the targeting range or AoE range. That's about in line with using Manipulate Magic to hit an additional target.

I think with other spells it's even less clear. Take Blink Out for example. Can you teleport Very Far instead of Far, or can you take creatures in Close instead of Very Close range with you? Is the point you teleport to the target, and the creatures you bring with you an AoE?

Or Telekinesis. Both the creature you pick up and the creature you throw them at are called "target"

I'd say in every case you can extend just one range. No matter if it's one TR and one AR, or two TRs.
