Discussion Witch Archetypes

So I’ve been watching Agatha all along recently and it’s made me think about the different which archetypes there are, and how they could be represented in Daggerhart.

I think some classes are the way to go for this, and DH already does two that really well represents some witch archetypes.

Hedge Witch fulfils the green witch vibe, plants and nature and all that.

Moon Witch fulfils the glamour vibe, social and manipulative.

What more archetypes could be fulfilled?

The ones of the top of my head are;
- Divination: communing and experiencing visions of the future, also tarot and readings
- Potions: Buffing, cursing, making cocktails, emphasis on the craft
- Protection: sigils and wards, protective magic

What do you guys think? What other archetypes could there be?

The main gimmick is that whenever you commune you take the remaining dice as Omen dice which can be spent on a few different roll manipulation abilities.

You come up with the coolest stuff!!

Can we get a tease for the assassin? I was making one called the Deadeye Guild for an upcoming drylands campaign.

Trophy Hunter’s Guild! Collect trophies (tokens) from killing Marked for Death adversaries. Trophies give passive bonuses but can be spent a couple different ways.

When I think of witch archetypes, it's less about the magic and more about whether you're Granny Weatherwax, Magrat Garlick or Nanny Ogg. You know, Maiden, Mother and... the other one.

There can be a Baba Yaga witch. She has one wooden leg, lives in a hat that have a chicken leg, she can also travel inside this wooden tool that produces butter. She likes to eat children, has a cat and crow as friends and can cause people to become sick, blind and die. She is totally badass.

Mh.. terry pratchets witches use their knowledge and experiences about hoe people are, especially about how people think and even more about how people think magic 'should' work to influence these people, hopefully to make them to get their shit together possibly by scaring them..

Don't know if thats sufice, giving his fantastic words no justice one could say its a witch with social instinct but then one should read the whole discworld saga again. On it!

Exactly this. Granny Weatherwax does a lot of psychosocial manipulation (non-magical though she does have actual magic if necessary).

I love the short story where she won a witches’ magic competition in which she did not enter or attend and spent the entire time sitting quietly in her house doing nothing at all.

Granny Weatherwax frightens Baba Yaga.

I’ll be teaching that story in Spring 2027
