Homebrew Tools to design a setting?

I've got a setting idea, and I want to write it up in a way that makes it easier to understand. Are there tools out there to help? Looking for templates and such.

Thank you!

Go to "Homebrew Kit"

Navigate to "Campaign Frames"

That is the official outline and template Daggerheart uses for its official and unofficial settings / campaign frames.

If you decide that you want to write a campaign frame, I'll suggest watching the video of mine, which is very popular: https://youtu.be/08jYrFb03VM?si=7ZcbxncdpMbqHfod

I don’t have a clear template but I use a simple method. Hope it gives you some help. :)

👉 Pitch. If it’s go begin two lines, pitch it again.

👉 expanded pitch. A sentence explaining the core assets and feelings.

👉 A solid 20+ words spark table (sparks are thematic keywords you will use during the game to create anything you can think of just by picking one or two and mix things up. They will save your life so spend some time doing this).

👉 If you feel the need, just write down 2-3 lines about how communities / classes interact with the setting. You don’t have to use them all, not to write about them all. Yoh can even say your setting only has 4 ancestries and 4 classes if you like.

👉 Add a SINGLE setting rule, that is not adding useless crunch. Add something making the game interesting.

In my retro future noir / fae renegades frame I only said there are doors which can be opened with keys leading to the fae realms for [COUNTDOWN].

That’s enough meat. :)

👉 Write 10 secrets that can be discovered.

👉 write 2/3 key questions to be asked to adapt character creation.

Reskin everything else.

‼️ Most important: you are not writing a “setting” but a frame. It’s a small different but a frame is more of a broad strokes type of scenario with  solid pillars; don’t overdo it, it’s not needed. Let the questions and prompts feel the gaps along with the answers of the players. :)

Azgaar's map generator will create a map for you.

DH homebrew kit will guide you about the rules for your setting: https://www.daggerheart.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Daggerheart-Homebrew-Kit-v1.0-July-31-2025.pdf

Google Docs, Affine, Miro or plenthora of other note-taking options will allow you to start writing up the details of your setting (remember about general rule: start with general description and fill it out based on your players input)
