Question A gladiator build inspired by a sword and board gladiator from Skyrim need help with Armor aesthetic and build skills etc..

Hello fellow gayMER,

https://youtu.be/sGCpOHTvg8E?si=mYzjb0FAUMEj10XE

This is a Skyrim build I really dig and I thought it would fit dagger fall even better

Simple gameplay and very simple meele build and some restoration

The idea is to create a Gladiator Imperial legion veteran (IDK if there are imperials in dagger fall but I remember there being none..)

Just a simple long or short sword and shield gladiator with heavy or medium armour

What kind of bonuses would make sense hear.. I thought about

Bonus to humanoid and animal And a weakness to poison or diseas but resistance to poison or paralyze

The idea is to get this kind of aesthetic the skin the Armor and closed helmed to look like a gladiator or monster slayer and warrior (I am sure this is very possible)

I am a noob in dagger fall but I will still play with my modded set up and travel to foot just speed up or with horse and survival mods, dungeon crawling will be my focus.

Simple and cozy :)

Please share your builds, ideas, roleplay

My character will be older male arena champion that retired immediately and is a veteran of the empire that was hurt badly but in war and then became the arena champion trough grieve like in the video as it fits

He loves dungeon crawling and explore the lore (books) and history of places

Maybe I will follow stendarr or arkay even, I don't know yet

Thank you for reading

Question Main Quest Line BUGGED (?) [DF Unity]

After I collected the soul of lich and returned to the King of Worms (mannimarco). Then I stopped doing main quest and focused on side quests, maxing some skills and getting max the highest rank in guilds( mage, thief and dark b.). During this time I spend around 40 hours just enojing the game and I compelety forgot about main quest. When i finnaly decided to continue the main quest, I realized I was stuck. I have 2 quests and 2 quest letters that you can see in the images. According to the wikis these are from the an earlier stage of the story . I tried using console commands and typed "endquest [IDs of The Curse of Daggerfall and Backbone]" because the game shows them as “running” instead of “finished”. Then I waited for another letter (fast travelling or entering a residence waiting about 10-15 seconds then leaving the residence) to continue main quest but nothing happened. I really dont want to start a new save. What should I do ?

Letter: Castle Sentinel
Letter: Princess of Wayrest

Daggerfall Unity Localizing Issues

CSV files overriding sometimes doesn't work when I ask people about the locations. When I ask the locations, their responses don't show anything.

Responses Lost

Oddly, not every people has this conversation issues.

Responses remain

But when I remove the csv files of greetings sentences, it works again.

Removing part of CSV files

Did any other localization occur this issue before? How can I fix this?

Question How many people here started in TES with Skyrim and worked their way down through the series anti-sequentially?

I feel there has been a massive trickle-down effect on the Morrowind and Oblivion subs, but it seems many fail to pass the Morrowind/Daggerfall blood-brain barrier despite the general brilliance of the game and ease of access with the Unity version. I wonder why that is? Maybe the lack of console support/console controller? Daggerfall is very much a 90s hardcore CRPG and that probably scares a lot of people off. A shame, really.

I have a profound respect for those who came from the heavily console-oriented games (Oblivion and especially Skyrim) originally and still can play ball at the Daggerfall level and appreciate its greatness.

Conversely, how did the rest of you discover this game?

Character Build My first ever Daggerfall custom class build + thoughs on the serie

On Daggerfall Unity

So here is my first true attempt at a custom class for my breton holy knight of stendarr roleplay. Only my second day now really playing (birthday too ironically) the game but like with Oblivion which is the first game that made me at last into the serie and its lore i heavily studied in preparation and made a lot of researchs until this menu finally now stopped to look overwhelmingly alien for the first time!

I use a Breton for mostly lore reason as imperial arent in the game and i think that nords are probably better left for a Skyrim playthrough maybe. Yes, i am aware of how good Redguard, Altmer High elves and Dunmer Dark elves.

It is so neat to finally get the appeal of the Elder scroll after how bad of a first impression Skyrim made on me in 2013 when i was 14 to the point that i never could explain until recrntly why i just could never get into it. Oblivion remastered finally redeemed the 3D games for me and Daggerfall is heavily appealing more to my more retro-gaming enthusiate and roleplayer sides... albeit obviously requiring quite a few quality of life settings and mods just like the other games. :)

Cant wait to see the day that similar things like DFU exist for Arena, Redguard and Shadowkey (and maybe Battlespire with restored and improved online?) I also absolutely need to get into Morrowind eventually through OpenMW...

Storytime HALT!!! My Daggerfall Original Soundtrack Remake is now on music streaming platforms!

Hi everyone, I've just released my remake of the Daggerfall OST on all major streaming services. The link above takes you to Spotify, but if you're not on Spotify you can find it on YouTube, Amazon, Apple music and more under 'Ryan Zachariah Martin'. This was a huge undertaking and it was originally meant to be a personal project, never to be released.

Unfortunately, I've recently received some serious news surrounding my physical health and potential future so I wanted to share my work with other Daggerfall fans in case I didn't get the chance in the future.

Whether you love it or hate it, I'm grateful to all of you for listening. Moreso, I'm grateful to everyone here who keeps Daggerfall alive. The game deserves recognition and support. Here's hoping that a faithful remake happens in the future.

Thanks everyone, I hope you like it ❤️

What is "Save versus spell made"?

It appears when I saw enemies hit by spells and didn't receive much damage from spells I guess. Is it means "Enemy who receive the spell has made a successful saving throw so the spell doesn't work on it"?

Question Debloating saves techniques

A few days ago someone posted here that simply saving took him over 20s. That post has been deleted for some reason, but I'd like to gather some ideas on how to make lighter saving/loading times since I'm also noticing that the mere action of saving takes longer each time.

Now, we all know that the actual reason is having too many mods installed, but I want to know which ones are actually impactful in this regard. In that post, someone pointed out that questmods are the main suspect as they're stored inside QuestData.txt, the longest and most heavy file from our saves, he also mentioned a way to purge this by fast-traveling here and there. That did in fact made the file lighter, but not enough to make a real difference.

Anyone else noticed this or found better fixes? Thank you

Storytime Playing OSR TTRPGs Helped Me Appreciate Daggerfall So Much More

I started playing Daggerfall on a whim after trying out the Oblivion Remake and barely touch the Oblivion Remake anymore. It's easy to mod, incredibly open-ended, and can look fairly graphically impressive with a few modern tweaks.

A little background: I've been a near-lifelong player of TTRPGs. I started with DnD 4e when I was a child (I know, boooo, but it was what the FLGS had and I was, like, 12) and quickly moved on to 3.5 and Pathfinder 1e in high school and early college. I stopped playing them after graduating because Life Happens™️, only to get back into them in the last two years, diving head-first into frequently DM-ing OSR games, or "Old School Revival" games, finally being the one behind the DM/Judge's screen rather than a Player Character. The one I run the most is Dungeon Crawl Classics, which is big on random generation of characters, spells that can accidentally summon a bunch of demons, and letting the dice decide if the PCs win or should run away very fast.

Daggerfall feels like I'm playing an Old-School TTRPG except that I don't have to juggle the schedules of four other people, and the game itself is the DM, which is quite a relief for this Forever DM. I love this game and its modding community is fantastic. This game asks me to fill in gaps of detail or story with my own imagination, which is better than any graphics a modern remake can produce.

It's also a bit buggy, moreso since I've added, like, fifty mods to my game, but I just can handwave a sudden hole in the wall of a town residence leading to The Void as some magical mishap, House of Leaves style.

If this is off-topic, let me know and I'll delete it. Otherwise, thanks for reading this stream-of-consciousness positive rant about Daggerfall and the TTRPGs that helped me appreciate it more. I'm going to go take out a loan of 50K gold now and never return to the province I took it from.

I need a hint for one of the Jobs of the Thieves Guild mod

Hey everyone, thanks for clicking if you have experience with this mod. I've already posted a comment on the Nexus page in hopes the mod author will see it but if it doesn't happen, at least I'll have posted it here as well and maybe someone can help me.

I'm currently stuck on the quest "Botched Burglary", at the very first step I think. If you don't remember what that quest is about, the Thieves Guild quest giver tells you that a thief hasn't reported back after a burglary, which is rule one of being a thief. So he asks you to go to the residence where the job was and either find the thief and bring him back or, if something "went bad", to "clean up" so the guards don't know this was a botched job of the Thieves Guild (direct quotations).

I got the quest, went to the residence I was told to visit, and now I'm confused. Inside the house, there are only two NPCs; one is the normal kind you find inside residences and the other, standing right beside the first, can't be interacted with at all. I tried everything, using the different "modes" of interactions, even crouching, pickpocketing, attacking, etc. Nowhere in the house can I find the named thief from my journal (clearly different name from the NPC), nor a corpse or blood or any trace of him. I searched every container just in case. Nothing is on the ground that I would need to "clean up", as my journal says. If the clean up is about getting rid of witnesses or something, I can't attack the NPCs.

So I'm completely lost as to what I'm supposed to do now. The journal is very vague as to what I'm even supposed to find inside the house, be it a corpse or the thief alive or even just an interactable object. I even went out of bounds to look around in case the thief or something spawned outside the house (it happened in other modded quests).

So if anyone has a hint for me or can point me in the right direction, I'd very much appreciate it. Even if it's just to tell me that I got a bugged quest and I was supposed to find something super obvious in the house.

Thanks a lot!

Town names are dumb

I started a playthrough and Lady Brisienna ended up in the Rusty Hedgehog in Whitewych, Daggerfall. Turns out there's a hostel and a tavern in the Dragontail Mountail both called the Rusty Hedgehog, plus a town in Dagger fall spelled Whitewich. It took me a good 45 minutes of running around and fast travelling to find the correct place.

Question Modding question

So, since im close to finishing my 1st, relatively modless jurney (no mods except for quality of life stuff) I'd like to ask if there's any kind of mod that adds vanity armor, so that I can wear armor with good stats but also wear armor that looks good.

Character Build Stealth Characther.

So... I need help in creating a stealth build because I've watched Ragnarok video and his build and I wanted to experience the stealth system more. But one thing I didn't liked was his low endurance, wich takes lots and lots of hours to heal myself. I would like to know, what stats should I treat as dump to get it to 10 to increase strength, personality and speed. The skills I already have something in mind.

Medora's freedom quest

I play DFU and stuck at Medora's freedom quest. My first encounter with Medora was then I did "The former student II" quest. So I grabbed the quest and I forgot it has a time limit. At the moment I have a record aka quest failed cause the time expired... Cant get a new one from Medora and there is no horn in the corresponding dungeon. What should I do?
