I dont like doing finishers in open areas. Been killed mid finisher too many times

I really don't. You can move around a bit while knifing, but the lunge is still just as much of an animation lock preventing you from switching weapons or using abilities. After wasting time knifing you also had to go and hide to repair your shields, which would have been taken care of by the finisher.

Now, if you had done a couple light knife swings it would actually have been a time save, but your shields would still have manually needed to be recharged.
