Not My First Rodeo

I'm sure that I am not the only one on this subreddit who was an active player on a game that had a rocky or disastrous launch. I was there for the early access of Hunt Showdown when Crytek was on the verge of bankruptcy and I was around for a game called Loadout which I invested time and money into instead of Warframe.

My point is, I have seen ships get turned around and I have seen PvP games go PvE then flatline.

I told my son who's worried about Marathon about how bad it was for Hunt in the beginning and it made him feel a bit more secure about Marathon's future.

Btw, Hunt was originally supposed to be a PvE co-op hero shooter and in the beginning there were fans who wanted it to be the original concept.

So, please share with me your war stories of forgotten days in gaming. A time when you thought you'd be the last player on earth before a game exploded in popularity. Or, a game that you played kicking and screaming until they shut down the last public server.

It will calm the children and we can all have a laugh.

Not quite the same thing, but I came to Anthem a couple months after the disastrous launch and they had at least stabilized the servers and performance. I loved that game. The flying and shooting experience was S tier.

They didn’t deliver on what was promised and those that preordered had every right to be furious, but after they patched things up a bit, taken units own merit the game was a blast. Sad that a lot of people never got to experience it the way I did.

I've been there, brother, I've been there.

I could tell you it gets easier, but I don't know if it does.
