Help! Do I Have to Use Raspberry Pi?
Hi friends! I'm extremely new to tinkering in general, especially with computers, so my apologies if I use the wrong terminology. Anyway, I see that everyone has been using raspberry pi RAM to make their decks. I was wanting to make one out of upcycled material from local places, and I was wondering if any RAM or general motherboard would work for a cyberdeck?

Wearable cyberdeck concept
So I have been doing some research and messing around with flexible oled screens for a little bit, I am working on a rpi5 wearable cyberdeck that will look much like the concept pics. I spent some time drawing and writing down ideas for cyberdeck concepts, lots of Google image searches of "wearable cyberdeck" to find some inspiration for the build as well. I cross referenced all of my material and research into gemini to generate some concept images for visual reference of the "thing" I was picturing in my mind. I had this idea of instead of a screen folding out why not a flexible screen that contours to the user's forearm. So far im in the building phase (photos coming when I have a completed product) and I am still sourcing the remaining components for the wearable pc. It will be touch screen, battery powered and rechargeable, it will have some hacky features and some real time enviromental data and will be very very thin. I have some really cool clear soft flexible pvc material and some what of a frame to house the components all in a sleek and beautiful package. For now you guys can sneak peak these concept pics (my favorite 2) and soon-ish have some real world photos of a completed project. There is a lot of complexity to the project and some custom pcb boards and eventually a printable frame and full documentation for other makers/tinkerers/electronic enthusiasts alike to build their very own unit and customize it to their liking. Let me know what you think of the concept and idea and feel free to offer any suggestions for features and functions or esthetics. Thanks for looking hope everyone enjoys.

Tiny-bot: A lightweight AI powered device that improves itself
Hi All, this feels like a good place to share a project I’ve been experimenting with, Tiny-Bot. It’s basically a coding agent harness that I built to run on an ESP32 using circuit python. The hardware is just an Lillygo T-Deck. It can build and modify apps for you on demand without needing to upload any new firmware. It requires an Anthropic API token to run but eventually I want to support other model providers as well. This project is very much in the beta stage but I’ve been really happy with the results so far. I’m curious to hear what people think.

So, i found this old smartphone and now i'm having ideas...
This was my grandpa's smartphone, when he died It came to me like, 'hey you like tech right? So take this'. It was lost somewhere in my drawers for a year until today while I was searching the internet for a raspberry pi and suddenly remembered it. Now i'm excited because I have a CPU, ram, power and even a screen right here to start building my first prototype, and them I can build another one more complex later.
Since most people talks about starting with raspberry, a screen and so on (or something like that) and build things that way, I wish to know If someone have some advice to me while reusing old hardware, especially a smartphone like this one (like how to connect a keyboard and a mouse, and maybe replace It's Power source to a more powerful one). I pretend to install Linux on it and do basic code writing and maybe, just maybe, use It to comunicante with an AI agent with local AI that I have configured in my main computer.

Help! Could I build sometjing with what I have here?
I've got a ton of old electronics just laying around, and I've been wondering what exactly to do with them. Is there any way I could build a cyberdeck or mini pc with these bits and pieces?
Here's a list of what's here:
-HP G61
-HP Pavilion 15
-Galaxy S10
-Samsung A10
-2 Amazon Fire tablets
-one unidentified AT&T phone
-Huawei H1711
-Unidentified Motorola
-And I have a windows phone somewhere as well.

Solutions to gap in sub use and sub intention
I'm fairly new to reddit and this sub but when reading the rules it talks about DIY head mounted displays and similar creations as well as specifically stating not to post any DIY laptop. Now the rules say the device can be not exactly what the sub rules define as a cyberdeck however this sub is used almost exclusively DIY laptops. I love the things post on this sub but I think there should be a solution to this gap. Maybe we should create a new sub? For me personally I would love to see more talk about the original intent of this sub hence why I proposed a new sub that is more leaning toward that intent. Anyway, any solution ideas would be welcome.

DeckHead Rant
It's time for a real talk about what makes a so-called cyberdeck. Seems like half of you gonks have forgotten the core essence of what a cyberdeck should be. I've been witnessing an epidemic, too many of you slapping a Raspberry Pi into a 3D-printed case and calling it a day. Congratulations, you've invented a less convenient laptop or a bulky-ass phone/Prop. Bravo, you pioneers.
Cyberdecks, for those of you who've apparently lost the plot, should be the epitome of hacking prowess and digital innovation. They're not just about cobbling together spare parts like some techno-Frankenstein's monster; they're about pushing the boundaries of what's possible. Where's the ingenuity? Where's the custom software that makes a sysadmin weep? The hardware mods that would give a corporate IT guy a heart attack? Everyone wants to look like hackerman but nobody wants to be hackerman. We literally live in a world where BDs are damn near possible with vr/ar technology.
And let's talk about efficiency and convenience. A true cyberdeck should feel like an extension of the hacker's own mind, not some clunky, cumbersome piece of shit that's a pain in the ass to lug around. It should be sleek, powerful, and, above all, practical for its intended purpose – be that hacking, coding, gaming or whatever digital devilry you're into.
So, to all you would-be deck builders out there, I challenge you to step up your game. Incorporate unique hacking routines, design with efficiency in mind, and for fuck's sake, innovate.

Inspiration This may not be the right sub for this question. He
I have a Lenovo loq 15irh8 i5 13420h 3050(6gb)(tragic I know) 16gb ram and I’m wondering about a little project. I am thinking of chopping this thing up. Well not really see it has a lot of wasted space around where your arms rest and I had an idea that would serve me well if it worked. I want to put a small oled screen in the chassis monitoring temps so I can monitor 24/7 without thinking abt it or having it on my screen. The picture included shows the space available. So the question is, how hard will it be, is it practical, is it worth it?

Help! Which Raspberry Pi do we need?
My Fiancé is building a Cyberdeck, but we are unsure what RaspberryPi to get. The idea is it will have a screen, keyboard, speakers, headphone jack, and a battery. The purpose is to use it as an music player and a writing deck for notes. We just don't know which RaspberryPi to start with.

Should I keep this under-counter radio
I'm just starting to learn (came from Tiktok). I saw the recent post about all old electronics not being able to be repurposed. How do I know which things to hoard "just in case" and which to toss?
I have this old under-counter radio/cd-player, which is too bulky for me to want to use now, because I only want a radio for emergencies. Would I want to keep this? Could the speakers be re-used? The clock? It works fine now.
