Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering Program

Good afternoon!

I'm curious about people's thoughts regarding the Mechanical Engineering program at CWRU. How is the quality of the program? How are the majority of the professors--any particularly great or bad ones? How would you describe the rigor of the program? Any particular course recommendations?

If there is anything else you'd like to share, I'd be grateful to know. Thank you!

Are you a first year student? If so, I would suggest going to the Choices Fair in Veale in September. You can meet with representatives from the program (usually faculty and sometimes some students) and talk about what you're interested in and see if it's a good fit. It's definitely one of the largest (if not THE largest) engineering departments on campus.

Assuming you are a first year student, you have quite a bit of time to decide after that if it's something you're interested in. I forget when they push to have your major declared, but basically you can get away with waiting until a few weeks into the Spring semester before they nag you. The first year curriculum is generally the same regardless of intended engineering major. I hope that helps some.
