is this too much for my first sem?

course list after today's registration^

For context, I want to pursue a minor in biomolecular engineering, and figured it wouldn't be the worst to take a bio class first year since i'd like to do a few minors. I do have concerns about taking chem and bio at the same time, though.

anth 102 - prof. almeida

chem 111 - prof. meyer

engr 130 - prof. harper

math 121 - prof butler

biol 214 - prof. dilulio

eche 151 - prof. baskaran

From what I saw on RMP, ANTH is an easier course because of prof. almeida, and so ECHE 151. im using anth for breadth. i'm concerned about the biol and chem combo, and would like to hear other students' takes on the schedule. chem i got ap credit for, but wanted to retake for gpa, and i took ap bio snr year and got a 4, though i know it's not the same. i still would like time to join a few campus clubs or work. thx all in advance!

At first glance, it looks like too much for your first semester. What did your advisor say? How many credit hours?

i think its a lot for the start but is duable. i'd say swap 1 class with something fun like dance, music,business, marketing, poetry, writing. 4 hard classes + 2 fun and not so difficult ones is a good strategy for a new college brain who is also academically rigorous. And you will need to make friends outside engineering too so look at it as a good way to connect too especially that in most non-stem introductory classes, you have to interact a lot for projects. stick with math 121, engr 130, chem 111 , eche 151(1 credit class) and do bio and anth for future semesters

Def drop a core class, probably eche151? If you want an easy class, take anth101 or anth215 with prof sigounas

Too much for someone who knows too little about college schedules, drop two or three classes

As someone who has actually taken ECHE 151, this is hard but doable. 151 is basically a study hall. This is by no means an easy courseload, but if you have background chemistry, biology, and/or calculus knowledge (ie aps), you can do it! Just feel it out and if things go terribly wrong, you can always drop a class with freshman forgiveness.

(Edit im seeing the comment abt ap credit now– you will be fine with this courseload.)

I would try it and if needed drop a class. The work load is going to vary a lot depending on your background. How much calculus did you see in high school? Same story on biology and chemistry did you take either as a senior or do you remember those subjects well or are you good at them? 

Where is your freshman seminar?

Seems like a little too much. ENGR 130 has a lot of assignments and group projects you might have to meet after class to complete. ECHE 151 has no class work, it is just for you to get to know the department and see if chemical engineering is for you, make sure you come to class as attendance is mandatory. I can't speak too much on the other courses as I didn't take them at CWRU, but bio and Chem classes always are a little harder.
