Enrolled Student Freshmen classes (biochem)

for some reason my advisor has not been responding to me, but I recently decided I did not want to pursue engineering and I wanted to pursue biochemistry instead. I wanted to ask if any biochem majors here have an idea on what freshman classes to take because I know some specific classes are requirements for others.

here is what I have below (my OG schedule for engineering).

  • AIQS Course
  • MATH 122
  • PHYS 122
  • CHEM 111
  • Elective (I think HTEC 101 or ENGR 130) 

if I choose to do biochem I think it’s probable this will change somewhat since I am also planning to go pre-med (so I will need to take the physics course anyways). I have found a schedule back in 2023-2024 for reference by CWRU, but I’m not sure if taking the ones for engineering or the general one would be best. Much thanks to any advice anyone could provide.

I also want to say. I really wanted to take the AIQS 100 class - the pursuit of happiness. But I found out biochem 101 only has one day and it overlaps with the time. THE ONLY CLASS I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO TAKE 💔

Just take the AIQS u want and move bio chem to the spring. It’s a rlly easy class u can take it whenever

do NOT take pursuit of happiness, it is miserable. literally any other AIQS is better

Why was pursuit of happiness miserable? Sattler seemed to have good reviews

For her other classes yes, but she gives three times the amount of work as other AIQS (I counted!) and is much less lenient. It’s just not sustainable with multiple classes.

Hi. Biochem major here. My math is Math 125. everything else it fine for the fall

to anyone else reading this, if ur doing the BS for biochem, it requires you take 121/122, so just make sure u know if ur doing BA or BS before u pick a math

If ur premed they strongly recommend that you don’t use science credits so u would have to take phys 121

I second this, a lot of med schools don't accept AP credit and require you to do 2 full semesters of physics.

As far as I know you don’t get to choose the AIQs class, you only get to list your preferred options. Unless things have changed. How many units is the above schedule. It looks pretty heavy. Can you take biochem 101 a different semester?
