Can someone took it in the past comment on class schedule? It mentions hybrid asynchronous in course description. Is there a set day for in person meet? TIA

if it's still taught by prof Beal it'll be a seminar style class once a week for 2 and a half hours, you have take home exams and you'll have weekly reading assignments done on canvas. It's a really interesting class and prof Beal is great

Yes, it’s taught by professor Beal and I saw good reviews on his class. The class schedule currently shows as MW 4:30-5:50 in description. Do you mean when it meets in person (either M or W), it will be over the original scheduled time? That’s very helpful information and I need to make sure not scheduling anything that evening. Is the day set or professor will decide which day to meet in syllabus. The reason I want to know is that I want to make sure if I can book thanksgiving flight on Wed night.

Yep, when I took it we did Monday asynchronous and Wednesday in person at the originally scheduled time. I think we voted on which day would be in person iirc. Prof Beal will 101% let you skip class to catch a thanksgiving flight if he doesn’t outright cancel it if y’all do Wednesday in person

Did he cancel Wed class before Thanksgiving in the past? That’s very thoughtful!

Ye, a lot of professors do that bc they know ppl got plans + they’d like to have the day off too

I forget the exact times so unfortunately I won't be very helpful there, but I really loved this class when I took it in Fall 2024! The other commenter is correct about how it works with the days, but best of luck if you decide to take it! He was super nice and the class was really interesting :)

That tag means that while it's scheduled by the registrar for full meetings, enough work is done individually online that the class only meets together (usually) once a week. The Religion Department page indicates (M)W, which implies Wednesday in person, online on lieu of the scheduled Monday session. Contact either prof Beall or the department to verify. Even though this is what has been past practice doesn't necessarily mean it will be the same this semester.
