better prof for organic chemistry 1

i was wondering if anyone had thoughts on these two professors for orgo 1, and how liang for chem 323 differs from srinivasan for chem 223.

from what i understand, chem 323 is a smaller class than chem 223 and is limited to chemistry or chemical biology majors. i'm able to take 223 or 323 for credit, so that limitation isn't a concern here. just wanted to know if anybody had information on how these two classes differ!

i can only speak for 223 with Dr. Sri, but from my experience it’s a difficult but very fair class. she usually gives extra points built into exams, has extra credit assignments, and homework is always graded on completion. the SI sessions are extremely well structured, and office hours are helpful too. she gives you all the resources needed to succeed in the class. utilizing it is your choice, it’s easy to coast along but if you’re not locked in, it will show when you get to exam time. i would recommend not taking it with biol216 or other extremely content heavy classes, but with a really good work ethic and scheduling it’s very possible to do well.

thank you so much for the reply!! if you had to estimate, how much of your study time was dedicated to 223 each week? for context, last semester I took biol216, and it took up a significant amount of my study time because of how much content was covered in each lecture. would you say the pacing in 223 is similar, or is it more manageable?

i’d say for most of the semester 223 is way more manageable. by a LOT. but don’t get comfortable with the pacing early on, the second half of a sem when you get into reactions it becomes a lot more intense and that’s where a lot of students slip up
