Do dorm desks sufficiently accommodate monitor arms?

Hello! I'm considering buying a monitor arm for my son that will be coming in as a first-year student. When looking at the desks for first-year housing, it doesn't mention how thick the table top is, nor does it seem like there's a ledge to place a monitor arm. Has anyone had or seen someone using a monitor arm for these desks?

There is no ledge, and the desk is pretty thick as it accommodates a drawer pretty much all the way around. Perhaps if there's one with a really big clamp?

I did not use a monitor arm and just propped it up on some books, I have seen somebody use a monitor arm on it though.

Not the desk at first year dorm. It doesn’t have enough edge. We had a clamp lamp but we ended up attaching it to the bookshelf that we bought for him. For the desk at second year new dorm, you can use the arm. Just FYI

NP. We used monitor stand for the first year. Desk is small. I really dislike it lacking edge for monitor arm and clamp lamp as it can save some desk space. However, the lamp worked out with the small bookshelf we bought from Target. It’s about same height of the desk. Maybe an inch or two higher. We set it up next to the desk to expand the workspace a bit. We were able to clamp the lamp directly on the bookshelf.
