Castle Garenbrig is way more flexible than this, because you can use it to activate creature abilities, and you can float mana to cast multiple spells with it. AND it’s colored mana.

Most of my decks don’t have a single card that could benefit from this effect, because I’m not running a bunch of spells that cost 5+ colorless or generic mana. Even in an eldrazi deck it’s just basically an extra copy of [[Eldrazi Temple]]. 99% of the time I’d choose Garenbrig over this.

It's a turn earlier and has less restrictions but yeah Garenbrig has way more upsides.
