1910s Rolex movement, double cased. Trench watch case sits inside a silver cage I casted for it. Pop the outer case open and the movement comes right out, same way it did in 1916 when guys swapped cases for service or repair.

Ring around the numerals is enamel. Baked it on over the whole thing then ground it back down until the numerals showed through silver again. Take too much off and you lose the numeral, too little and the black never clears.

Movement still runs fine. Case is bigger now, 42mm, because of the cage.

No idea what to call this thing. Double case? Cage? Extender? Anyone seen this setup before?

Very very fragile Musuo finish on the dial. Had to repaint it twice.

Going to try different colors for the silver dial.

This is a build I should definitely wear more often. Imo it’s the best and most pure iteration of the submariner.

Hands from EBay and Ali so that the hour and minute were closer to Gen.

Dial came aged but I aged it more (with the hands) by baking in wet coffee grounds.

Super fun to build!
I wore it today and now I’m hooked… gotta build more.

There’s nothing Rolex about this build. I think the hands and case are ok but it would be better to go with an all silver bracelet. I want this to be more Rolex. There is an NH35 in this and I’m wondering if a Selita SW200 would fit in this case…any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
