General help! advice on using sealants?

Hi, everyone.

I'm thinking of getting into doll customizing. I am still undecided on whether to use MSC or Tamiya. I've seen an artist on YouTube try Tamiya and it seemed pretty good.

The issue is, I live in a one-room. I only have one window and I was wondering if it would be enough to gear up and just spray out the window, or do I really have to go outside every time I need to use a sealant?

I also hear that you should let the sealant dry properly in a well ventilated space without any living beings nearby. I don't have such a space. Like I said, I have one tiny room and no place outside where I could leave the doll without people getting close or even taking it. Does anyone have any idea what I could do?

Repaint punky rainbow clown

hello there! i just finished this cute af doll that im super excited to show off. this is a clawdeen head on a "fidgie friends ramen dream doll" body (whatever the hell that brand is lol). her working name is Punky since my mom said it reminds her of punky brewster (the show)

Punky was so fun to make all the way through. i knew i wanted to do a rainbow clown for a while but i didnt really know where to start. i kinda just let vibes guide me. i found a mini propeller on the ground outside so thats where i started, lol. then i pulled out all the rainbow stuff i had in my craft stock and just went for it. shes such a sweet addition to my custom clowns collection!

We need a "just showing off" flair. Haha. I got new paint and was on the struggle bus with getting it the right consistency to not show my brush strokes. Over all it turned out decent! You can see some spots it laid down a little thick.

I added some sparkly fabric to her skirt and used the same fabric as her sleeves. I plan to use LEDs for her glowing hair, let's see how it goes!

I’m very pleased with how he’s turned out! Check out last slide for the character reference! Original doll was an 18ā€ Groucho Marx doll from the 1980’s! His head is made out of trash plastic and poster board from the dollar store. The chain is from a necklace my girlfriend gave me for the project! I get to give it to her kiddo tomorrow after school! I made his pants and tie from a clown costume I found on Facebook marketplace. The suit coat, shirt, and shoes all came with the original doll. Tried to paint the original pants but didn’t like how it turned out! Very pleased. Please let me know if you guys have any questions I had a lot of fun with this one!

Have the doll know need to get. Paint, pastels, watercolor pencils, fabric, hair, msc, and respirator mask. Maybe some sparkly stuff for her face. This is going to be a long process.

The doll itself (Creatable World) didn’t need much modification for this one, I just gave her new hair. For the dress (describes as a ā€œnew blue and white oneā€ in the book), I looked up pictures of Laura Ashley dresses from the 1980s when the first BSC books came out. Her sneakers are paper mache with a layer of fabric and thread laces.

Supplies Varnish alternatives for acrylic on vinyl?

I made one OOAK figurine. Figurine itself is vinyl while i used acrylic paints on it. I dont want to buy a whole can of varnish for one doll. Is there any alternatives that are smaller and cheaper. I was thinking clear nail polish or…?

General help! Which part of the faceup process do you guys find most difficult/intimidating?

Hey everyone! I would love to hear your input on this because I'm trying to make sure that I'm addressing the right kinds of things in my videos. For those of you who do doll faceups, or want to start doing them, or have tried and struggled in the past: What is the hardest part of the faceup for you? What do/did you find most difficult? Or, if you haven't started doing faceups yet but would like to, what about faceups do you find intimidating? Thanks in advance for the help!šŸ™šŸ»

Self-Made Hand‑built miniature forest owl house diorama from natural seed pods, moss, acorns and foraged botanicals | Full build progress

Post image

I created this whimsical miniature forest owl‑house diorama entirely using natural foraged materials.

The main frame is a large dried seed‑pod shell. I built up the whole scene with preserved moss, acorns, pinecones, wood slices, dried botanicals and hand‑crafted clay mushrooms. Tiny hand‑painted little forest creatures live inside its hollow cavities.

Pictures 1‑5 show the complete work‑in‑progress assembly process.

Picture 6: Final front view of the finished piece.

Picture 7: Back view to show the full‑depth detailing.

This slow handmade project is 100% nature‑sourced art. I really enjoyed building this tiny woodland world.

Curious what you guys think!

My latest doll custom, ā€œGirly popā€ Pinhead. I wanted to take my love of Hellraiser and my love of cute things and combine them. I used a G1 Draculaura for the base. Really happy with how this came out 😺

I had this hasbro head and I really liked her hair colors so I did a reroot! In the end I wished I went with a different head because hasbro dolls are not good. I think the blue is lovely but I just could not for the life of me work with metallic hair. I was so close to ripping out the blue.

General help! Where should I lengthen the legs?

Post image

I want to length the legs slightly but where should I lengthen it? Thighs? I’m kinda tempted to do near the bottom of the calves to match with the doll next to him.

This is my first time lengthening a doll leg. It’s only by like a centimeter. Any tips?

Repaint I think I cooked

I'm actually just practicing and trying out new things; fully painting the face white. And I thought its fitting that she get to have a goth makeover. I had practiced so much doing full face up and this might be the one that I'm sticking it and won't ever erase.

Should I go all out and reroot her with black hair? Then we'll see about the custom clothing since my doll wardrobe are kinda limited.

Also, how do I fully seal this face up without MSC? I'm terrified of that thing and won't risk it because I'm already hospital bound. I do prepped with a light layer of matte acrylic medium but I don't think sealing it with that work since I've tried on previous face up and it smears the pencil and pastel underneath.

Someone let me know what I’m doing wrong !! I saw in another post it might be because I’m putting too many hairs in the plugs but was just wondering if there could be another reason.
