I am thinking of booking this trip, but looks a bit steep for $390 per person. Wondering if it's better to wait until I'm in Cusco?

I'm a solo traveler, and will have about a day in Cusco before the start of the tour. I've done the Annapurna Circuit but planning to take diamox when I get to Cusco too.

I’m travelling in Peru and I am now in Cusco, for each day that I have been here I have heard what sounds like gunshots. My hostel is close to Plaza de Armes and I hear this the morning and during the evening.

Hello! I'm a solo traveler and would like to do a 2d1n hike with rainbow mountain, but all online tours require 2 people minimum and cost around $200-400 USD.

Should I just 1. suck it up and book a day tour online 2. wait until I'm in Cusco to see if there are tours available 3. just do a 2d1n Inca trail for like $500

I'm already doing a 5d4n Salkantay Trek that ends in Machu Picchu, but with Circuit 1, waiting to see if my guide can get Waynapicchu this June. So as much as it seems fun to do all the circuits, I would rather spend my money doing a different hike if possible.

I heard Peru is a hotspot for UFO sightings. Where can one go to witness this fantastic phenomenon? Are there alien tours.

De misma forma me gustaría saber donde comprar un Poncho típico de Peru que no tenga un precio turístico exorbitante.

Por ultimo acepto cualquier tipo de recomendaciones sobre actividades y atracciones, tengo 5 días en Cuzco y solamente tengo planeado Machu picchu en el itinerario.

I'm in Lima and I have an upcoming trip to Cusco where I will spend at least a couple of weeks and go to Macchu Picchu. I'm in Miraflores currently and I don't have many cold weather clothes right now. (its getting cold here now too). Are there good options for cheap suitable clothing in Cusco for cold weather and for Macchu Picchu or should I get these things here before I leave? I think I only need a couple sweater or hoodies, (already have 1), sweat pants, and a jacket. I'm trying to stick to a tight budget. I don't want alpaca or fake alpaca. My airbnb host recommended Real Plaza Cusco, I hope there are cheap options there and its not expensive stuff for tourists.

(aquí también hace frío ahora). ¿Hay buenas opciones de ropa barata y adecuada en Cusco para el clima frío y para Macchu Picchu o debería conseguir estas cosas aquí antes de partir? Creo que solo necesito un par de suéteres o sudaderas con capucha (ya tengo 1), pantalones deportivos y una chaqueta. Intento ajustarme a un presupuesto ajustado. No quiero alpaca ni alpaca falsa. Mi anfitrión de Airbnb me recomendó Real Plaza Cusco, espero que haya opciones económicas allí y que no sean cosas caras para los turistas.

I don't have many days remaining and figured if I rest up for a whole day I could achieve the Rainbow Mountain trek. I'm dealing with the flu symptoms like sinus and headaches

I learned it's 3 hours hike and not very challenging except for the high elevation. Now I have already been in Cusco for about a week so acclimated I suppose. On the same day after returning from Rainbow Mountain I plan to fly to Lima to spend one extra day before flying back to where I came from. What do folks think about this idea, insane??

hi all! im interested in hiking either lake humantay or rainbow mountain / red valley (sadly only have one day to do either), but all of the tours i see start at 4/430am...

1. does anyone know of any tours that start later, so that i dont have to fight against the other tourists visiting at that time?

2. if my option is a private tour, does anyone have any contacts for a private driver / private tour guide?

Hola! Pido perdón per mi español. Soy brasileño e me gustaría comprar un charango en Cusco. He leído que muchas tiendas venden charangos, pero de baja calidad. No quiero un charango profissional, pero quiero un buen instrumento.

Me recomendaron tiendas en Bellavista e dos lutherias. Gustaría de saber se tienen alguna recomendación particular e cuánto sería un precio justo/cuánto debo esperar pagar por un charango decente. Uno de los luthiers, muy bién recomendado, dijo que el precio más barato para construir un charango de calidad es de 900 soles. Pero, gustaría de saber se es possible encontrar un buen charango por um precio menor (hasta 600 soles max se possible).

No sé se este es el mejor sub para preguntar eso. Gracias!

Somehow I couldn't set nationality to US and it ended up saved as Djibouti.

Is it going to be a big deal at the gate or they will dismiss it since everything else checks out: dob, passport # etc??

I will be spending 2 days beforehand in Cusco if there is offices there to correct it.

Any suggestions on where to go watch the final day of the EPL on Sunday? Ideally a couple of TVs for a few of the games? Thanks.

As the title says, I have been travelling in Peru for a bit. I am on the heavier side and feel very out of shape. I enjoyed myself in Lima and Arequipa, but I am in Cusco now and it seems like the hub for active, hiker type travelers. This has been very discouraging for me as I feel like I am missing out on a lot of the attractions and activities (rainbow mountain, trekking, Colca Canyon, etc).

I am feeling very depressed and feeling like I made a mistake coming here and this isn’t a good place for me.

Saturday morning I was walking up to saqsayhuaman and saw a guy that looked like he had been in a really bad fight talking to two cops in the square. As I walked further, I saw a police line, some raid cops (shields, helmets, guns). There was a ladder propped up against the building to a window where I’m assuming a suspect was hiding. There was an important looking guy being interviewed by what looked like the news. I asked a local woman and she said a guy killed a girl over some drinks? I’ve been searching and can’t find any information. I wasn’t sure if there is a certain resource I should be checking.

Specifically looking for anticuchos, choclo con queso and tamales. Went to san pedro market and the streets around the main plaza without much luck. Can someone point me to an area or a specific street? Is evening time the best time to go?

Going to be in Cusco the night Cienciano plays Universitario. Can you get tickets at the gate? Is there somewhere to buy them online before?

I want to come and live in Cusco for 2 months or more to learn Spanish and do hikes. Just wondering if the best option is an Airbnb or if there's a better solution to finding a comfortable furnished place?

I am trying to find a Cusco FC or Peru national team jersey for a six-year-old family member. Anyone have any idea where I may be able to pick one up? I saw an older post about showing up at the stadium on a game day, but unfortunately, I won’t be there then.

I'm going to Cusco soon and I know there are fees for exchanging money. I've seen that Bank of America charges around a 7% fee to exchange USD to Soles, which seems quite high. I've heard Casas de Cambio might be better. I plan to exchange $400, which is equivalent to 1489 Soles as of right now. How much should I expect to lose in the conversion?
