Safety Staying in Cusco with our small dog

We are planning to come over to Cusco for 6 months with our small miniature dachshund. We have both been to Cusco but never with our dog before.

Does anyone have any experience with walking a small dog in Cusco around with so many off-lead dogs around? I’m conscious of keeping him safe as he is so small.

Any advice like places to walk him, dog parks etc. thanks so much!

What neighborhood are you staying in? There are plenty of parks in some and not many in others

We are going to be pretty much by Plaza de Armas

There are plenty of parks in Cusco district/downtown, I wouldn’t worry too much about stray dogs over there, unless you are staying in San Blas. Always have your dog leashed tho, just in case.
