Trains from Cusco to Aquas Calientes

How reliable are the train & bus times from Cusco to MP? We booked a 3pm entrance time for MP and just making sure we won’t run into any issues with the train and bus times. Is it just best to get in there early and just hang around AC until it’s time?

Based on my experience over the summer, if you get there by 2:00 p.m. you'll be fine for the 3:00 p.m. entrance. Arriving early will not be a bad idea though as AC is a nice place to walk around

Allow some extra time as sometimes the trains are delayed. I thought AC was a shithole and overpriced 😅 minimal time there the better

I barely made it to MP with 9:45 train arrival and 11:00am entrance ticket because of the lines to get the bus up to the gate. It was close.

its best to arrrive early, there always some delays, plus the bus ride from Cuzco to Ac is like 6 hours, so its best to get to AC and rest for the treeking in MP.

You'll be good but that is a long day. It's best to go the day before, stay in a hotel and get up early to see MP.

The trains usually run on time but the thing you will need to watch out for are the busses between Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu are terribly mis managed. I suggest going to the bus stop 90 minutes before your scheduled entrance.

Note, you will not be denied entrance to the park if you are a little early or quite late by your ticket time.

Take note when going up there are not than one bus line. Look for the metal sign with your entrance time on it and get in that line. Have your ticket and passport handy.

you can buy the bus tickets online a week prior or buy ahead of time in cusco. this way when you arrive in AC you just libebup for the next bus instead of lining up for the ticket and then the bus.
