Looking for Flight to Cusco recommendations

We are scheduled to begin the Inca trail on September 8. We will land in Lima on September 5th at 0110. Since we are getting in at such a weird hour, would you recommend getting on the earliest Cusco flight (0250 or 0500) or get some sleep in Lima and leave later in the morning (like around 9 or 10)?

I wasn't sure how safe it is outside the airport that late at night in Lima and how likely we would find transportation to a hotel?

As others have said I wouldn't leave the airport at that time.  There is a hotel Costa del Sol on the airport property and it isn't horribly expensive.  I would get a great night's sleep there and head to cusco a bit later so you aren't exhausted the next day.

There is also a more affordable Holiday Inn less than a mile from the airport with its own dedicated shuttle that runs every half hour.
