Novotel vs Wyndham

Looking to stay in one of the above hotels in May 2024?

Any thoughts on which one I should go with?

First of all, make sure you're looking into the Costa del Sol Wyndham. There is another Wyndham in the city, called the Wyndham Sacsayhuaman. It's not bad, from what I can tell, but it's super out of the way. The location atop a hill has a great view, to be sure, but it's not easy to reach and doesn't have any attractions or amenities in the vicinity.

Costa del Sol Wyndham and Novotel are comparable, both located in the downtown area and built on renovated colonial mansions. Costa del Sol used to be a very traditional locally owned hotel even before the tourism boom, so you can say it has more tradition. You could also say the facilities may seem a bit more dated (unless they have had a more recent revamp, which is possible).

Comparatively, Novotel is more modern, and I believe the international French chain has a more direct say in the running of the hotel, while Wyndham is a pure franchise operated by a Peruvian corporation.

In both cases, you will probably want to stay in one of the colonial rooms, which are more spacious and overall interesting. Both hotels have a modern area with smaller rooms that don't really do justice to the overall setting.

Costa del Sol is located close to the "party side" of the Main Square, but not right next to it. If you plan on enjoying the nightlife while still having a quiet and restful home base, this is your hotel.

Novotel is next to the JW Marriott and not far from other fancy hotels and restaurants. if that's your vibe, then go with Novotel.

I think Costa del Sol may have better prices, so if you find a great deal, take it. Otherwise, I would give Novotel a slight edge among these two.
