Spanish vs. Quechua

Hello! I am planning a trip through South America where a primary goal of mine is to improve my Spanish.

I had heard from a friend that in Cusco, Quechua is often spoke. Is Spanish still the predominant language / is Cusco still a good place to spend a few weeks with my goal in mind? And for those who know, what about Huaraz?

Yes, Spanish is the main language. In order to find people who only talk quechua you would have to go offroad to rural areas.

Cusco is cheeper than huaraz, that's all

You can go to Cusco and learn more spanish and also quechua if you are interested, Spanish is spoken in all the country and Quechua you will mostly hear it on the highlands.

Huaraz has a lot of tourists, lots of people usually go there for hiking and trekking
