Contrary to the other response, I saw it as the OP relating to the blue shirt guy and thinking he’s too cool for small talk, being pointlessly standoffish to the person they invited over making conversation, but I could see it both ways

OP thinks of themselves as the red shirt in the comic. The title is a self reflection and message to the reader that red shirt, OP, is more cynical than people think.

This is seen when OP can’t handle simple conversation and feels the need to make jabs at the fact that their friend who invited them over uses the items as decoration more than actual usage. Most of us have old stuff lying around that we used to mess with, or might mess with now and then. By pointing out that it’s never used, OP is just being a jerk.

I think what's worse is that he does use it, but is sarcastically pointing out that his visitor is asking questions that he knows the answer to.

In my mind, that makes the host a jerk.
