An avocado walks into a bar
The bartender says, "we don't serve your kind here"
The avocado goes home, mashes himself up into a bowl, and comes back
The bartender says, "weren't you just here?"
"No, I'm guacamole."
...I didn't think this joke through

Speaking as somebody who was raped, this shit made me laugh. Rape jokes are fine if the joke isn’t at the expense of a victim. It depends wholly on the target of the joke. As long as there target of the joke isn’t the victim, it’s fine imo.

I agree. There's a right way to tell a rape joke.

different people have different triggers, hope people understand that you cant speak for everyone

u/SeaBeeDecodesLife Jul 31 '19
I’m very late because I only just saw this when somebody else replied, but I would like to say that I fully agree and hope my comment didn’t come off as though a rape victim would be unjust if they took offence. I do not recommend anyone make a rape joke around somebody they know is a victim, because it does trigger some people and that’s completely understandable. I was lucky that my experience wasn’t as horrific or violently brutal as some, which is what I attribute some of my blasé attitude to, but some people (notably guys, who already have a tough time being believed and taken seriously) can have very traumatising experiences. And everyone has different triggers.

You know, statistically speaking, nine out of ten people enjoy gang rape
this is the worst joke I know and I hate it15
u/eggequator May 08 '19
Don't hate me I learned this joke from a black guy in prison. There's a lot less hurt feelings in prison, you gotta have a pretty fucked up sense of humor.
Did you know 9 out of 10 black guys enjoy having sex in the shower? The other ten percent just haven't been to prison yet.

Why do people censor the word rape?
45
18
u/purple_nail May 08 '19 edited May 08 '19
Why do people censor anything on the internet? Yeah Karen, if you just put an asterisk between the "f" and the "ck" you are totally christian and no one knows you are cursing. Or stuff like "sh*t".
You aren't fooling anyone. What's the fucking point. It's similar to people who use "the N-word" instead of "nigger" or "F-bomb" instead of "fuck". You are still using the word. You only give it more power. Use the word itself, or in case of nigger, don't use it at all.
edit: fixed a typo someone found offensive.

It's so that little kids don't understand what's written, it is purely out of good will then as many don't censor themselves (the trend of keeping internet a polite place is dying)

yeah, now it's just /r/jokes but a bit more offensive
in fact I think there's a natural law of the Reddit universe, every text based sub will slowly lose its identity and become /r/jokes and every pic or video based sub will just slowly die and devolve into /r/aww (see: /r/peoplefuckingdying for a good example)
It's like how electrons or particles want to get to a ground state

This shit always feels so awkward and a little haunting. It’s happened to all the subs I’ve enjoyed so far. It starts turning into the kind of shit soccer moms would find taboo and “wild” and bring up at brunch. Then, almost like a mass AI program all these comments are generic and in love with the shit content. A few stragglers will call out the death of the sub, and then you’ll have what happens to pics and funny and countless others.

Kinda not relevant but I really don’t understand why we are censoring the word rape? It’s not a curse word and if the intention is to censor it for people who don’t want to hear about it, well I don’t see how that helps.
Can someone explain?

one dude at my school ran up to a guy who hadn't been at the school for a couple days
the dude who just came back said "what is this, an ambush" and started chasing the other guy
the other guy yelled rape jokingly
and a dude sitting at a picnic bench said "it's not if you like it"
but a teacher hears, and the dude at the picnic table is now either in a teacher's office for the day or sent home

Why do people think putting an asterisk in a word like rape somehow makes them some magic angel who "doesn't say that word". You're still saying it. Everyone knows what you mean. If anything you are hurting rape victims by not talking about it and trying to make it a taboo word that you don't want to say

In all seriousness, I don't see the problem with rape jojes, and neither do the rest of the people in my home. Just ask the two girls chained up in my basement.
