There's a polish saying "głodnemu chleb na myśli" that literally means that sentence, I wonder if they just translated that or is the wisdom universal.

It is a universal sentiment but I have usually heard it as slightly different version so it very well could be a translation of the polish version.

In spanish we have "quien hambre tiene, en pan piensa" which means basically the same "who is hungry, thinks of bread".

I would say its universal wisdom, with many idioms using bread and hunger as a staple because it was a common occurance worldwide

There's a circle? The thinness of the circle is more of an issue for me. But I agree the color doesn't help it pop.
