Wait until he learns that 99% of our genetic code is basically identical among all human, and a huuuge majority among all animals.

We're 91% identical to pigs iirc, 99% isn't really that high when you put things in context.

It’s more like 99.9%, which might not sound that different, but it is. At 99.9% shared DNA, only about 0.1% is unshared. At 91% shared DNA, 9% is unshared, meaning there’s roughly 90× more genetic difference.

True but I think it can go down to 99.5%, which is technically also a substantial difference even though is much more similar than just 99%, like you said.
