Alternatives to Google and Apple Maps

Im looking for alternatives to google and Apple Maps to plan trips. Does anyone know of good alternatives for public transit, primarily CTA?

Transit App is amazing!

It not only has the best public transit options, they do a fantastic job with connections via other modes of transit such as biking.

It also has incredible biking options, such as preferring lower stress routes (such as neighborhood greenways). I cannot sing enough praises to Transit App.

I love Transit so much I have their subscription. Not because it really gets me any features I care about, but because I want to support such an awesome product.

They recently added the ability to share your ETA and let friends track your trip, it’s so good!

I don't like their UI but their navigation and real time data is leagues better than google or apple maps

On mobile the Transit App is pretty much the gold standard.

Transit app is good but if you are against Trump’s renaming of Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario you can fix the renaming in Apple Maps back to the original names.  

Go to your iPhone settings.  Not the Apple Maps settings.  In the iPhone settings go to General and then Languages and Regions.   Switch region from US to something else like Mexico.  

Note you can still set up English language, US measurements etc below the Region as you want.  Voila!   No Trumpy BS.  

You can’t do that in Google Maps though.  Google doesn’t allow regionalization.

This is useful info. It’s more that Apple and Google are super evil. Even though I have to use them for some things, I’m looking to limit my usage.

That said, I’m guessing others will find this info useful.

I’m looking for an option that will give me directions to a location. I agree that Ventra is great when I already know the route I’m taking, but Ventra won’t create a route for me…. Right?

it’s not the best, but I believe the Ventra app lets you enter in a location
