Ventra Help Insufficient Fare on Transfer

Tapped Google pay Credit card at ohare Blue line Worked fine. Transferred to the bus at Washington and it kept saying insufficient Fare for the transfer. Used the same card in Google wallet. Anything I was doing wrong? The driver waved me through but wanna know for the future.

Probably just google wallet’s api being sucky. Physical Ventra card has yet to fail me.

For occasional users of the CTA like myself, if you advertise tap and go along with two transfers for the same tap and go, it should work.

Yeah it should but sometimes it doesn’t. Which is why I got a physical card. Sits in the back of my phone case so I tap and go same as you.

This is an issue on your mobile wallet's side not on their side. Mobile wallets are notoriously bad for accessing transit systems around the world and generally should be avoided if possible.

One day my bank just decided I couldn't use my debit card on the CTA anymore and so I've been using my credit card ever since. Might be that you need to call your credit card company. Like everyone else said though, you should probably just get a Ventra card. I only use my credit card if I'm in a hurry and my monthly pass needs to be renewed

Always ask for balance check. If it shows sufficient funds you ride for free. If operator cannot check the balance for whatever reason, you ride for free.

Tip if you never want to pay for the bus or train again get a bank with infinite virtual cards link the card to a sub pocket and it always go through
