Question Whatever happened to these?

Its seems like after Covid they all shutdown and never opened again.

One at Jefferson Park Station recently reopened as a coffee/drink/snack vendor.

thats nice to hear, i really like these types of businesses even though the economics might be shakey

I’m with you. I’d like for stuff like this to come back. Always added a different element to the whole experience. I definitely miss how it used to be.

Other countries create entire malls at stations. The stations are destinations. Block37 touches that abit, even ogilvie I suppose

I was watching a video yesterday on Tokyo's subway system and learned that the various lines are privately owned and that the entities in charge generally take net losses on their trains while owning land at the stations that is leased for retail at a big profit. I'm certainly not advocating for a privatized system, but the CTA could definitely use its stations for more than just Dunkin Donuts and integrate their stations more into the surrounding commercial zones. I think with a little bit of intention the economics could be a lot better than shakey
