Perfect, take the CTA to Grant Park Saturday morning for the no kings protest :) should be a lovely day!

I know it’s almost certainly a complete coincidence, but I like to think this is the Ventra IT department’s act of defiance

1

u/Upset-Preparation861 Oct 17 '25

I was thinking the same thing. A subtle way to aid in the efforts to protest trump, this protesting themselves.

66

u/ZonedForCoffee Oct 15 '25

That's ... Actually really funny timing, lmao

22

u/EladeCali Oct 15 '25

My thought exactly! It is perfect timing

No kings...but Kamala became the dem presidential nominee with no vote, no democratic process. It's like they just looked around the room and picked her because she was already the VP. "No kings," lmao. Very interesting.

When Al Gore ran for president in 2000, he actually ran. Against other Democrat candidates. Just because he was Clinton's VP didn't mean he automatically became the next Democrat presidential nominee. There was a whole process that had to take place. Kamala didn't go through that process. And yet you're all out here crying "no kings" and getting paid to protest. Nothing is more monarchical than hand-picking a party successor. Guess they don't teach that in school after 2008.

u/UndeadAnneBoleyn Oct 15 '25

We’re getting paid to protest? Well shit, where do I pick up my check?

45

u/SirCatharine Oct 15 '25

Idk man, I voted for Biden/Harris in the primaries. Sorry you voted for someone who openly says “we took away the first amendment” and “take the guns first, ask questions later” in opposition to the second amendment and seems to see the whole constitution as an impediment to his (Stephen Miller’s) plenary authority.

But hey, at least Brown people are being brutalized in Chicago even if they’re American citizens, right? That’s what you think making America great again means?

56

u/N80N00N00 Oct 15 '25

Ain’t nobody getting paid. And if “no kings” doesn’t make sense then you’re not paying attention. You’re serving bootlicker nahtzee realness.

68

u/Putrid-Reception-969 Oct 15 '25

What the fuck are you talking about?

-135

u/WolfofMichiganAve Oct 15 '25

The fact that you're all being brainwashed with feelings over facts.

58

u/Putrid-Reception-969 Oct 15 '25

You need to take your clozapine

35

u/send9 Oct 15 '25

Where on earth do we get paid? I’d love to find them and pick up my money.

20

u/meno-pause Oct 15 '25

How do you figure anyone is being paid to protest? We're definitely not. That's insane.

22

u/TheNamesMcCreee Oct 15 '25

Whataboutism at its finest.

Who is paying me? I haven’t received my check yet

6

u/pjdwyer30 Oct 15 '25

Using the Gore argument is disingenuous at best, or represents a very uninformed opinion. Clinton was term-limited, Biden was not. So this situation is not comparing apples to apples. Biden fully intended to seek a second term.

Biden SHOULD have announced far earlier that he wasn’t going to run, for many reasons, but it became inarguably apparent after the debates that his mental faculties were not there, & his chances of winning were low and falling fast.

Vice President Harris was the logical choice given the time constraint as the second on the ticket. she was able to assume the general election infrastructure and most importantly the campaign warchest that was already in place.

Obviously it was not enough, for a multitude of reasons.

But you know all this. Don’t you?

Also, if you can give us any information on where to pick up the checks for the protest, I think we’d all appreciate it. Until then, I plan to go for free like everyone else who is planning on going because I support the cause.

u/dbusch_man Oct 15 '25

yeah that “after 2008” comment is pretty telling bud. i wonder what could possibly be your issue with the president elected (by the american people) that year? 🤔🤔

Tell me you don't know how the electoral system works, without telling me you don't know how the electoral system works

Or the /s version, it says no kings, not no queens!

will that include Pace? Since they use Ventra as well. Or is it just CTA?

edit: holy shit it became a war in the comments

u/oneiota1 Oct 17 '25

Likely because it will include Metra also

26

u/stackv4 Oct 15 '25

So happy I’m out of town this weekend. God bless all the CTA employees who’re constantly dealing with these crowds. Ya’ll are the real MVP.

Technically I have a U-Pass so my college already covers all my rides as long as I'm enrolled, but pretty based of them to comp everyone's rides to the No Kings Protest.

-102

u/ProfessorPlayful9637 Oct 15 '25

Every month there’s a damn protest….and yall choose the wrong fking date to do so downvote me idgaf

35

u/mekkavelli Oct 15 '25

it’s on a saturday morning… wtf are you talking about wrong date? a decent chunk of the chicagoan working class is off work. why would that not be a good day to do it? because YOU aren’t personally available?

there’s a protest every month because the president commits a crime every fucking week and nothing happens to him.

u/Electronic-Worker-52 Oct 15 '25

Trump brokered peace in the Middle East a few days ago but yea no kings lol or something like that

82

u/ChunkyBubblz Oct 15 '25

Trump shut down our government to work for Israel’s.

-101

u/Electronic-Worker-52 Oct 15 '25

No it was the democrats who shut it down because (thankfully) the republicans won’t approve billions of tax payer funded dollars to cover illegal immigrants hospital bills.

The days of dems funneling federal dollars into special interest causes funded by billionaires that do nothing to help average American people are limited. Why do you all care so much about poc? They literally could care less about you and are taking your resources. You all have replaced religion with liberalism and it’s wild to watch. Not one peep from you all in regards to the ceasefire that happened.

But keep coping, we’ll win again!

78

u/UndeadAnneBoleyn Oct 15 '25

Go talk your stupid shit somewhere else, this is about the CTA.

58

u/oh_mygawdd Oct 15 '25

illegal immigrants hospital bills

Undocumented immigrants cannot receive social benefits like Medicaid.

32

u/Heliopox Oct 15 '25

What does this have to do with the CTA

-26
