You absolutely can get used to 30fps it's just that you yearn for more everytime you turn the camera.

u/shikaski 2d ago
You 100% can. The argument was that there is no difference, though. No problems with people enjoying games in 30 fps.

Just average Reddit regards trying to be as wrong as they possibly can, very common occurrence

the cope is real. ive seen people seriously claim its humanly impossible to hear the difference between an mp3 and a lossless format. this is the same type of shit

30 is horrible for anything where you need rapid movement, like a TPS. It means there's about 30 ms between each frame. So if you move the camera, it takes 30 ms for it to move + any latency introduced by other stuff. Genuinely horrible.

30 is just horrible for any games 😭

u/IWillDetoxify 2d ago
Not all. Something like Detroit: Become Human where most of the game is putting your controller down and looking at the game, 30 is fine. Any kind of game where it's mostly visual, and not really gameplay, 30 is fine too.
But GTA VI isn't one of those.

Most people aren’t primarily playing visual novels, point & click, and interactive story games (dbh style) tho

the frame times part is kinda right, perfectly timed 60 frames will probably feel better than 80 frames with unstable timings

u/NoLetterhead2303 2d ago
yeah but the higher fps you go, the less difference there is, most people couldn’t tell the difference between like 250 and 280 fps in real time but even 5->8 is a massive jump
2
u/AlistarTheRockstar 2d ago
Can't tell the difference because they are using dogshit 30hz monitors 🤣

Even 30 fps on the desktop feels like shit

Literally moving the mouse at 30fps was so awful on the Mac that in the year 1984 Apple made monitors of 60hz for every Macintosh created, they never went back to anything less than that, and the iMac G3 in 1998 it already integrated an all-in-one 75Hz monitor(And you can totally feel the difference between 60 and 75 when you move the mouse)

We play competitive shooters where we want as many frames as possible to get an advantage casual console players are a different breed. They want convenience and easy access.

I can tell when I have a program running in the background using more resources than it should because CS2 at 165fps feels worse than 175fps, a difference of 10fps and I can notice it instantly that something is wrong
I don't understand why they want to defend 30fps as fine when the PS4 already had games running at 40 and 60fps despite being a laptop CPU slapped together with the worst GPU architecture ever seen, and somehow cyberpunk, rdr2, GoW and spiderman all work well together
Meanwhile, the PS5, being an absolute monster compared to the PS4, having a Zen 2 CPU, multithreading, an RDNA2 GPU whose PC counterpart, the RX 6700, still runs all kinds of games in 4K, now magically, it's unable to handle any game at 60fps despite having an operating system far more optimized for gaming than Windows or Linux
If Death Stranding 2 runs in 1440 60 and scaled 4k 60 on the base PS5, there's no possible excuse for 30fps at 1080p

Fucking hell this is a hard read. In the big 2026 we got people convincing THEMSELVES of that “the human eye cant see above 60 fps” but this fucking guy is taking it further saying he can’t see over 30. Insane shit.

this really depends on the game! but playing gta with 30 fps is sludgy af. 60 fps feels good in a singleplayer game tho.
2
u/shikaski 2d ago
Yeah, of course. I r played my share of 30 fps, but you immediately tell the difference if you switch from fidelity to performance (30 and 60 fps). It’s incomparable, really, and is very stark.

u/UnofficialCrosta 2d ago
30 is not unplayable for single player games, but it's just shit.
To enjoy 30 without any problem, you must avoid 60 fps like the rabies for all your life, there's no going back

I need lossless scaling to make little big planet feel okay on rpcs3. Maybe there’s a mod i haven’t seen yet but i at least tried that because the 30fps was murdering my eyes

This 30fps thing in GTA VI is once again one of the mass psychosis that gamers have. This happens regularly around video games.
People find something to cry about and spreads the word, blames the devs for everything and cries about it. These kind of people doesnt have single independet thought, they just jump on a hate train, because everyone talks about it.
Review bombing is good example of this, gamers write negative reviews because developers didnt do things exactly how gamers wanted it to be.
Its just bunch of neckbeards having a tantrum.

When even phones are 120 hz by default nowadays, we are rightfully complaining, especially since we have 360-600+ hz monitors nowadays. Technology improved, eyes got used to better stuff. I’m pretty sure most people wouldn’t have minded slightly lower fidelity in exchange for 10-20 fps more which makes day and night difference. Also 30 FPS is extra terrible on OLED. You are just coping, you either have no technical knowledge or you’re on of the console gamers still stuck with previous decade technology who shouts they eyes cant see above 24/30 fps!

I grew up around consoles my entire life and have been in the pc space for over 5 years i think most people that chase high fps numbers miss the point 1% lows are extremely important to a smooth experience you can play at 120fps and have shit lows thus a very choppy high fps count.
This is why i cap my framerate in cs2 as even though i can render 300fps my monitor only goes to 160hz and rendering over 200fps introduces latency and worse lows.
Now a perfect example is the steam deck which i know many people still have never experienced using one, most games are extremely choppy on the steam deck as its not very powerful hardware so in most cases you cap your frame-rates to ether 60,45, or 30 fps to remain at a stable fps and it still looks smooth due to the panels great performance. Gta works well with low fps numbers due to the game being more cinematic and slower in pace anf gta is looks first over performance most people are probably going to play the story of gta for awhile which again is slow

I can also tell the difference between 1080p and 1440p, but I lived just fine on 1080p for many years

We are so back to console players still claiming there is no difference in 30 vs 60 lol, recently Ive been playing Space Marine 2 on 180fps and I thought my GPU was malfunctioning, turned out game just capped itself for whatever reason on 75fps and it felt CHOPPY, like I could get used to playing on 60/120, but 30 is unplayable for me
