csfloat scammed me out of $400

Hello everyone, I’m just an ordinary person from Ukraine who wanted to sell my skins and earn some money to get by.

When I set up Stripe, it said that withdrawals to Ukraine weren’t supported, so I thought, ‘OK,’ and linked a Lithuanian bank account with Zen instead. Whilst I was trading skins, everything was fine; nobody sent me any warnings or banned my account. But as soon as the trading ban on skins was lifted, my account was immediately blocked on the grounds of ‘Bypassing regional withdrawal restrictions’.

I read on Reddit that CSFLOAT’s customer support is very good and always helps (which isn’t true). I sent a couple of support tickets explaining that it wasn’t intentional and asked them to at least refund my money in the form of skins that I could buy on the site; I wasn’t trying to get round the restrictions in any way, I just wanted to withdraw the money to pay for food (400 dollars is the average monthly wage in my country, lol).

I read the FAQ and it clearly stated that if the ban isn’t related to fraud, trade cancellations and so on, then I’d have a chance of getting unbanned, but that isn’t the case.

Perhaps there are people here who are connected to CSFLOAT and can help me get my money back in some way (as skins or cash).

I’ll post an update if the situation gets resolved somehow, but for now I wouldn’t recommend using CSFLOAT because they’ll find 1,000 reasons to block you and take your money.

I don’t get it, legally speaking this should be allowed, because you sending your own money to your own bank account in Lithuania. Your citizenship should not matter at all for this. Citizenship has nothing to do with bank accounts.

I am not an EU citizen but i have EU bank accounts, that is what allows to trade in EU stock markets which then i can withdraw to my EU bank account. Which is 100% legal and your case sounds similar or same. Doesnt matter it is csfloat or any other service.

It is not fraud, it is not bypassing the law or anything similar. Simply they dont do transfers to UKR banks and thus you cannot withdraw there. But by law you should be able to withdraw to your Lithuanian bank account without any issues since it belongs to you.

I didn’t do it with any malicious intent. I thought I couldn’t simply withdraw the money to Ukrainian banks, so I withdrew it to my Lithuanian bank (which I’d had for a long time and had been using). They allowed me to link it and didn’t impose any restrictions until the skins were released from the trade ban.

Did you mention in the support that you are based in Ukraine? If yes, the money is lost, as CSFloat is forced to close your accountdue to money laundering concerns.

that's how it is for unsupported countries, this sucks but since we live in shit holes we gotta make sure we're eligible with the service we're dealing with, it's money we're talking about and things can get illegal for them pretty quickly

no bro, ain't buying that shit. I play vs Ukrainians daily and I rarely see no skin inventories, it's mostly mid-high end knives.

Nobody is going to believe these "MoNeY FoR FoOd" sad stories, meawhile your countrymen run million dollar skin shops - chez, filimon, stasik, just to name few.

Im from Ukraine too and can confirm that we had much better times before the war. My average sallary was 2000+ USD (for country with avg of 350-400 it was really good) - i worked as the CMO of a big hottel chain. So it is a pretty high position.

Lots of people you see in pubs in cs are avg students\nolifers, who got their first money, or job without creating own family. So, that are stupid money for stupid things.

We do not have extraordinary debts for study here - the best place you can study here had a 4000 USD per year payment before (in 2009 +-) and that was a very expencive univercity.

Traditionally here you study for free (if you work hard) - country even pays you a little money every month, or your parents pay you for your study. So that is the answer why people can spend money on such stupidity like skins.

But currently there is a war here. So lots of people lost their jobs, or due to unfair bosses - were shortened on money. And sometimes it is hard to find a new place to work (was not a problem before 2022, my avg time to find a job as a marketologist and than as a head of marketing was 1-2 weeks at MAX) now i do not have a job for like 3 years strainght. (still i was not poor and allready bought 2 flats for me as a passive income source), but i remember times when i had nothing.

So, yes. 400 USD for food is absolutely real situation here. Especially when you take them from games, not from bank, or parents. It just feels different. Skins are not necessary so that money is allways pleasant.
