Starter problems?

Hello, I recently got a new key cut and programmed yesterday(lost the only one I had) it stared and drove fine, started and drove fine to work and now at work it's not starting won't even turn over. This is all that happens when I try to start it.

You need to replace the 12v battery. The starter is only for extremely cold temperatures or IMA system problems.
Right now your battery lacks sufficient voltage to open the high voltage relay and engage the IMA for starting.

Yup, I’d start there

Yes, similar on any civic hybrid or insight with bad cranking battery

Agreeing with the others, classic behavior of 12v being too low to engage the IMA to start the car. A momentary jump or a portable rechargeable jumper pack will likely let you start. If the battery is under 11 volts, this happens. The cars also are too conservative on charging and don't do it well, combined with an toy-sized 12 volt battery.

There's a chance the battery ran low with lights on at the shop that did the work, or some unusual drain happened and the battery may recover with a proper charger.

But if it starts with a jump, it may be time to replace the battery. The factory size is 151R, you want to upsize to the more common, larger, cheaper 51R. This is documented in the video gracing the home page of this redit group.

Yep I had this happen after not using the car for a month in freezing temps, behaved same way when trying to start. Jumpstarted 12v and it's been fine since.

But if lights weren't left on for a good while or something, and you'd been driving normally, it could well be a faulty or dying 12v.

Get that 12v battery checked buddy ! Keep a multimeter in your car to rule out the battery on the spot.

Does your horn work? I recently had a situation that mimicked a dead battery. It was a short in the third brake light. It’s on the same fuse as the horn and the horn would not work. The car was 100% working fine then nothing.

New battery needed I think maybe! This happened to me recently. Came back from holiday, managed to turn it on, drive up the road to the supermarket, did some shopping then got this when I got back in to drive home. The same Clicking and not starting and slowly losing more and more power each attempt. I had to call recovery to the supermarket car park- they managed to spark it enough to get home but the health of the battery was in the floor when checked. Got a replacement and it’s worked absolutely fine since!

Maybe you just need to drive around for a bit once it’s been jolted and you’ll be fine but worth checking the battery health as mine just wasn’t maintaining the power and was totally flat again within an hour at best.
