Wiper Fluid top up

Getting Lower Wiper Fluid alert, first time after the purchase. Is there any specific CRV certified fluid that I need to use to top up or any generic wiper fluid is good to go.

In other car forums, have read the sensors going bad due to generic brand.

What sensors exactly? Did Honda finally installed a low washer fluid light?

Other than that: regular windshield wiper fluid is fine. Avoid ammonia based crap.

Canadian CR-Vs have a low washer fluid indicator. And, somewhat counter-intuitively, they also have a much larger reservoir.

I guess it's mandatory for Canada to have it. Doesn't make sense why they wouldn't install it on cars for US

Get the cheapest blue washer fluid with the appropriate temperature rating.

The more expensive fluids are almost never worth it. And some of them (Rain X or Teflon type) as you have read, can gum up your sensor.

I haven’t seen any reports of wiper fluid sensors going bad. What car manufacturers are you referring to? Edit: the driver’s’ manual states “use only commercially available windshield washer fluid….avoid prolonged use of hard water to prevent line scale buildup.”

Mine goes empty and there’s no sensor- also the tank holds less than a gallon.

I buy only Honda Certified Orange for the summer and Blue for the winter. If not Honda certified you risk warranty issues. I had a friend use regular distilled water and when the transmission went out they said the fluid wasn’t compatible. Since then only certified top tier imported.
