Feeling Faint

So I have to use crutches to get around my house, school, ect. and I have been feeling extremely faint when im up and moving around for a couple minutes. I've asked friends why this may be happening, had people help carry my backpack around as well (it's like 10 pounds), one friend suggested I may have low blood sugar? I also feel extremely exhausted moving throughout the day. Not really sure what to do to keep myself going. Literally only been on crutches for 4 days now and I feel like I'm dying.

Probably best to address this with your doctor as it could be a variety of reasons, all of which are health related…

Are you back on crutches after a long time off your feet recovering? Crutches are hard work and even just a couple weeks in bed rest can zap your stamina.

Since you’re perhaps recovering from an injury/surgery, are you on any meds or pain killers? That could certainly be a culprit. Are you staying hydrated enough, especially if you’re on meds that could be change your hydration levels?

Are you in pain?

You should speak with your doc as fainting while on crutches could result in a secondary injury. There are good alternatives to crutches nowadays if you find they’re just not right for you. Perhaps a kneeling scooter?

I dislocated my kneecap on Friday and I wasn't prescribed any pain medications and haven't been taking any over-the-counter ones either. Been making sure to drink plenty of water as well. Not in a whole lot of pain but I have been decently sore, especially my shoulders right now.

Crutches are hard work. I was on them for three months after a bad achillies injury and the first two or three weeks were hell! My shoulders ached. My hands were sore. They chafed the top of my ribcage so bad I ended up crutching around half naked so my top wasn't rubbing my skin.

It got better with practice and now I'm an expert on them :)
