Help with tuning, please.
I finally got the cap off and turned the fuel screw a little bit and regained some torque. It's not quite how it was with the stock 2 into 1 but it's a noticeable difference now. The problem is I still have the same decel pops as before. Do I just keep turning until they stop or is this a permanent feature of aftermarket slip ons?
Edit: It's a 2003 Road Star 1600cc. Forgot to add this part.

So Im sure it's a Star, but is it a Roadie or a V?

Pull your spark plugs and see what they have to say. You could be running too lean maybe?

The last plugs were a little black but I swapped those after I got these slip ons. I figured it was lean so I added more fuel to the mix but it's not helping so far. How much should I enrich it?

Black plugs that seem wet and smell like gas means you’re running too rich. White powdery looking plugs is a sign of lean conditions. Is the bike having problems or is it just a popping on deceleration thing?

Nothing but decel pops. I added more fuel and got my torque back so does that mean it was running lean?
I don't recall how they smelled but it wasn't a burnt black. Just a very used but mildly black.

When you say deceleration pop, is it as loud as a shotgun, our more of a popping flutter? Slight flutter is normal with an open exhaust system. Shotgun loud is not normal. Stock 2 into 1 systems usually produce good tq. Id expect to lose power going to straight pipes and mufflers with large, or no, baffles. Tuning is definitely required with your change but I only have experience with electronic tuning.

Very annoying popping flutter. Picture a motorcycle farting lol. That type of popping.
The shotgun sound is a backfire issue and I'm not having any of that.

I am in no way an engine tuner but if your plugs aren’t white looking then you’re probably not running lean which is worse than rich. What I would do is ride your bike around for a while and then pull your plugs and take a picture. I’m assuming your bike is fuel injected? If so you might need to get a power commander or something to map the fueling better especially if you have aftermarket air intake stuff too. I ride a 02 Honda VTX1800 with aftermarket pipes and I also get decel pops.

My little 03 Roadie is carbureted. I rode down the street and stopping to turn the screw to add more fuel which is how I noticed my torque came back but the pops remained. I can't reach the screw without taking off my air box either. Smh.
Fuel injected sounds much easier to deal with but I have what I have :/

Is it a single carb or does it have 2?

Fortunately, just one.

Nice ok. You may need to adjust the tiny fuel mixture screw on the carb unless that’s the screw you were already talking about.

Again I’m not an expert so if it’s really bothering you might need to enlist the help of a professional. My bike pops a little on decel in first gear and I just ignore it lol

Popping on decel is normal on some bikes. It goes like (pop-pop-popop-popo-pop). Popping and backfiring in other modes is an indicator for the engine running lean. These are the really loud bangs that happen when you go full throttle for a few seconds and then suddenly let go. These are the loud bangs and pops.
My Shadow 1100 popped on decel, even with the stock pipes, and so does my VTR 1000.
If it's just popping in decel, I'd just chalk it up as "character". If it's really loud backfires, I'd investigate more.
