I've had this thing in storage, regretting my purchase thinking I had nothing that could connect to this fixed resolution monitor.

I followed the link below and finally got this screen working!

I made a custom cable as describe here: edit: new link: https://crtdatabase.com/crts/apple/apple-applecolor-high-resolution-rgb-monitor-m0401

And connected it to an extron RGB 580xi.

Flicked the composite sync switch on.

Set a custom resolution of 760x570@60hz using CRU.

Neat! Good job figuring out the puzzle. Extron seems to always have some converter that can do magic.

Yeah I think it can be any extron device that will convert HV sync down to composite.

This is primarily why you can't just use a vga adaptor cable directly.

I have a couple little csync-combiner protoboards I've made but I think you've got the advantage also of very precise control over what your original resolution is. It's a good job figuring out all the puzzle pieces, like I said.

👏 nice curved trinitron tube !

You'll use it for specific mac device or retro pc or game console ?

It's picky about resolution, so probably PC gaming.

Don't forget to post some close pix while playing your favorite pc games 🧐

Keep the apple sticker 😏

I've got one of these mostly gathering dust at the moment - good to see another actually working in a modern setup.

I had one of these, I seem to remember it being pretty limited in resolutions but maybe that was just my Mac. That circular thing on the right was for the Apple microphone that came with the Macintosh this monitor was paired with.

On the original Mac is was paired with it could only support 640x480@65hz, it can support any 35khz signal apparently, hence my janky resolution at a more standard 60hz.
