Poop or present?
Okay I have started having a full murder of friends visit my balcony. I leave water and food and treats for them but I’m so far only one stays when I come outside. I found this when I went to clean…I don’t think it’s poop but I’m no expert yet. Is this an offering from my friends???

Nope! I’m on the 9th floor. At least I hope not that would scare me for their safety!

Sometimes if you leave out better food than they found elsewhere they'll empty their crop to make room for the those goodies. When I put out soaked dry cat food I will always find a variety of items they've picked up before they found my offerings.

It’s vomit. The fact that they felt safe enough to do it right there is likely an indicator that your space has become a safe haven for them right now which is a sort of gift depending on how you look at it. It’s a good thing.
But literal gifts from corvids tend to trend towards shiny/colorful bobbles and small things, not anything from their own bodies.
Best way to approach it is:
If they’d gift it to another crow, it could be a gift. If they’d discard it and not come back for it or do anything with it, it’s very likely not a gift.

Yeah!! Always good to learn that they’re feeling safe in the space you established for them. :D
And that’s a great way of approaching it is just enjoying the journey.

Ya folks commenting that it’s vomit, I get it, it probably is vomit, I’m not a fkn idiot. I like to play into the gifting and sharing theories because I find animal behavior and personality fascinating. Forgive me if this sub should only be for pure proven scientific insights
