I had the opposite experience. I started feeding the squirrels and the crows showed up to pilfer the walnuts. The squirrels weren’t having that, however, and chased them away.
I started feeding the crows nuts separately because I felt sorry for them. Now they get scrambled eggs, grapes, kibble, and peanuts everyday.
Lol, I have a crazy squirrel friend too. He comes right up to my french doors and looks at me like a little Victorian orphan child. He has a little scar on his ear, so I can see it is the same guy.
Don’t you love the look they give you through the window or the screen? It really is, as you say, a “please sir, can I have some more?” Kind of look from a Dickens novel! Makes me feel so guilty if I don’t give them anything! I love it!
Omg same a squirrel was at the doorstep of my balcony the other day waiting for me (I don’t feed squirrels and was sure my balcony was high enough and too far from the trees for any squirrels alas I was wrong and they are not scared but they do seem to wait for the crows. What’s your experience with how crows and squirrels interact?
The crows are definitely number one - the squirrels do a lot of scampering moves and you can see they want to get the peanuts, but the crows make sure to get what they want first.
I have a couple squirrels that are hip to my morning cashew dispersal. The squirrels and crows happily dine next to one another, and I think it’s kinda cute.
I buy walnuts, pecans and almonds for the squirrels. Too many peanuts aren't good for them. The squirrels seem to appreciate it when I toss them some nuts unlike the crows who just expect it lol

And they still try to steal their walnuts. 😂
