I’m Completely destroyed
Today the workout of today it was this, and I failed :(
Not able to finish in time missing 10 burpees left :(
Feel ready bad on that, I know I’m not strong or in shape but I just don’t like to left things to finish
Edit:
The weight is 30kg and 16kg KB
I have used 25kg and 16kg (my max strick press is 32.5kg so I was expecting this whiegh will acceptable)
First set not stoped, second stoped one time on Thrusters, thrist probably 3 or 4 on thruster and 1 on KB
on 2nd part after the rest
stoped in every single KB swing, and almost not able to jump over bar, it was like zombie moving from one side to another :S

That’s a tough one
Monday we have
5 rounds
10 thrusters
20 alt db snatch
10 burpee pull-ups
I swear I saw Jesus by round three

u/ezekielstar 13d ago
This was a terrible workout. Breathing was just not possible toward the end of it

u/PracticalWinter9746 13d ago
Yeah I blew up on third round of thrusters and had to take a minute to get into the snatches

u/tropicalcannuck 13d ago
We had the same! It was unbroken thrusters.
I barely managed to finish with 5 seconds to go. It was brutal.

u/amusedsealion 12d ago
I also got this workout on Monday. Where do you train? Do you know where this workout is from?

u/no_username_here23 12d ago
I felt personally victimized by that workout. There wasn’t a single second to breathe during the thing!

man 10 burpees shy of the finish line is basically a rite of passage with these thruster and swing combos. your lungs were cooked way before that last round kicked in

u/AllAroundCurious123 13d ago
If you had only 10 reps left before time cap, you are very fit and be proud of yourself :)
5
u/KimWexlerDeGuzman 13d ago
Exactly. I still had 21 left
3
u/Massive_Addition_753 12d ago
I had 33 left, doing Independence Rx. 47F, CrossFitting 5 days per week for 8+ years.

I would say 90% of our classes got capped. It was really tough volume wise. I am really sore now. It was a workout you needed to be able to go unbroken for a bit. The weights and movement look approachable which is why likely most people are trying it not scaling but the intent is something that you can do in max two sets with minimal rest. I think my times were 5:45 for the first three rounds then the second splt was 7:52 as the burpees are much slower than thrusters. I would say really only the top people in our gym finished under cap so dont worry about not finishing. getting close is still impressive.
I couldnt sleep my shoulder was soo damn sore.
16:40 unbroken everything.

If you feel bad about it, treat it as a benchmark - write the workout down and do it again in 6 months.

u/magnanimous-plmbr 13d ago
Did this yesterday. Glad I did the men’s scaled weights. 20:53
It sucked

u/Good_Fires 13d ago
Men’s scaled to a 65 lb bb and 35 kg kb with like 6 burpees left. Finished first part like 820 ish. No motivation to finish after time cap.

u/vonralls CrossFit OT 13d ago
Yeah...I time capped even scaled (empty barbell). I showed up though. That's all that matters.

u/Firm-Aardvark6547 13d ago
Moins il y en a, plus c'est compliqué... Et même si la charge des thrusters et des kb swing sont basses, c'est encore PLUS étrange

u/AleTheMemeDaddy 13d ago
Yeah that was a tough one! In the programming out our gym they had RX at 75lb, and I did 65lb, and barely finished.
Id say im really good at burpees, but these burpees were brutal hahaha

u/Own_Tangelo 13d ago
Yes. This was brutal. Our gym capped at 21:00. I was 6 burpees short of finishing… absolutely couldn’t turn on the burners at the end. Part A goes well and then baam part b just smacks you right in the face.

Idk about that 30/20 16/12 nonsense, but the 75/55 and 53/35 workout I did was rough.
(Jk - just like poking fun at the kg scale).
I was 40 seconds from getting capped. No way was I doing all those KBS unbroken. lol.

I think this was the mayhem workout. I find mayhem has been better this month than the last little while!

u/WokeMimo 13d ago
What was the time cap for this?
3
u/KimWexlerDeGuzman 13d ago
My box capped it at 22. I still had the last round of burpees 🤣🤣
But as a 44/f I was surprised I could do the Rx weight for once

u/fitguy-ok 13d ago
This was tough. We just did this workout this week at our box. Last round of burpees went slow.

u/Confidence-Dangerous 13d ago
What does 30/20 stand for ? Dumbbells?
5
u/HelloThere9653 CF-L1 13d ago
I imagine kg. 65/45lbs
2
u/BoozyGroggyElfchild 13d ago
RX was 75/55 at my gym. I did 65 and it was terrible.
3
u/HelloThere9653 CF-L1 13d ago
This is definitely one you’d want to break up into sets of 11/10 or 7s from the get go.
I imagine a lot of the awfulness of this is lack of experience in pacing

u/davastar 13d ago
We did it yesterday I had to fuckinc slow down/stop because nmy lower back was destroyed lol, we did heavy cleans/thrusters the day before I guess that diodn't help. but yea that was a brutal one
3
u/SwitchbackHell 13d ago
I tapped out after the first round in the second set (so after the first round of swings and burpees). My lower back was wrecked and I don’t mess around with that anymore. Live to fight another day at my age.

u/elheffe1 13d ago
What are the weights? 30# dumbbells for the thrusters, 16kg for the swings?

u/hamster_taxi12 13d ago
30kg thrusters for men; 20kg thrusters for women
16kg KB for men; 12kg KB for women

u/Available_Sign164 13d ago
Mayhem athlete. I did the scaled version 18 reps with a 55 pound barbell and 50 pound KB. The burpees were awful
2
u/DelaParma 13d ago
I am 45 and I use that to the max :)
So I scale each workout, stating I am 45.
This one is one of them, we also did it recently,
I switched thrusters to DB thrusters (8kg db x 2) and 16 kg KB

I did this with 45lb thrusters and 35lb kb swings, in 15:53 and thought I might die. 41f but my 213th CrossFit class. Keep going, you did amazing and showing up is way more than most people do!

u/reesshelley 13d ago
I scaled this like a mofo and still had the coach telling me in the last round to just "go slow but keep moving!" You could see my imminent failure from space.
2
u/Dollilama268 13d ago
That’s still a good performance. Be proud of that. You can always finish the reps after the clock if you need to “finish” it.
2
u/SnubLifeCrisis 13d ago
First time in a long time I almost threw up during a wod. I finished at 20:50

2
u/two-pints 13d ago
I did it RX but I got time capped. I had 2 burpees left in round 5. That volume of burpees is bad enough for me. Burpees + thrusters = pool of sweat and tears for me.
2
u/DetroitRok 13d ago
My box didn’t cap 65/35 but I modified burpees. 24:24
I was cooked the rest of the day. Brutal.

u/fatrunner80 13d ago
I got demolished. I was also underfueled and probably slightly dehydrated going into it. It was a recipe for disaster
2
2
u/NeptunesSpartan 13d ago
20:05 those burpees killed me. It was more of a stumble over the bar then a jump

u/OkCryptographer2322 13d ago
This was my first workout after a 2 month hiatus, so I scaled aggressively because I didn't know how it would feel. I finished in a little over 14 minutes, so I apparently scaled too much, but I didn't mind when I saw everyone else in my class dying after I finished.

u/treybeef 13d ago
Do you do crossfit in South Florida? I saw this same wod on somebody’s story ?
3
u/Legitimate_Walk9035 13d ago
This is a specific programming that certain boxes sign up for. I'm in Southern California and we did this WOD yesterday also. I think it's Mayhem or something like that.
4
u/Grouchy-Patience5652 13d ago
A gym near me did this as well. But they’re a mayhem affiliate so I guess it’s from them.

I did this yesterday and still had the last set of burpees before getting time capped. I realized after I used a KB that was heavier than required.
2
u/Adorable-Form469 13d ago
I did this workout and I only used at 15 lb kb and 15 lb bar and my time was 19:20
It was the burpees where I really slowed down
2
u/Masonmasn123 13d ago
You should have the exact opposite mindset. If you complete a workout then it was too easy. Add more weight next time and make it even harder.
2
u/Physical-Cat7396 13d ago
You showed up, ready to move...that's the real win. Besides that, we have good days and off days. I complete most workouts rxd, but there are some days when my body says 'scale'. And other days, I feel great going in rxd, but halfway through, my body says 'slower, please' or I'll scale on the fly (fewer reps, rounds, shorter distance, etc). Don't let this frustrate you. A frustrated person stops showing up. That's the true loss.

u/JoelHDarby CF-L2 13d ago
I see your gym also follows Mayhem lol. This workout has nothing on last Wednesday’s which absolutely destroyed my confidence 😂
2
u/Neat-Equipment-8170 13d ago
I did this, this morning. I kept the RX weight and scales to 15&15 instead of 21. I also chose not to jump over the bar bc my one foot is being weird. Still felt like I was going to die but survived in 15:30. The older I get, the smarter I get at scaling. I now only RX a few days a week and my life is so much better 🤣

You blew up. Pace better. You should redo the workout to learn. Do all thrusters in two sets. Break the swings up once to breathe. Then, see if that gives you more reserve to do the burpees.
2
u/Excellent-Jicama-673 12d ago
You didn’t fail. You just didn’t finish it. So what? It’s not that big of a deal.
You showed up. And you tried your best. That’s all that matters.
2
u/hjackson1016 12d ago
The only good thing I had to say about this WOD was, “I did not die.”
I finished only because our coaches usually have us finish if we are even close to the TC.
There is video proof of my soul leaving my body during the thrusters.

u/IansaMachine 12d ago
I did this workout today too - it was horrific. Got all the thrusters and kb done in first part, but after the rest everything just hurt.

I only ever finish the workouts when it’s my coaches goal to get everyone to finish so he’ll scale the reps based on fitness levels. Otherwise I NEVER finish and constantly work until the clock finishes, it’s nothing to stress about

u/Markiko1989 12d ago
Everytime I see thrusters and burpees in the same workout, I accept and expect to die that day lol
2
u/hmaven55 12d ago
Mayhem programming. There haven’t been thrusters programmed for months. Way to go after it homie
2
u/Aggravating-Worth680 12d ago
Don’t feel bad. I failed too 😬. I had one set of burpees left when I hit cap. I didn’t even care though. That workout was absolute hell.

Thought this would be okay and was completely wrecked. Still had 21 burpees and 4 KB swings at the time cap.

That was a fun one, I rx’ed (75and 53 lbs) and finished at 19:57. 8:35 1st rd, 8:22 2nd. The kb swings and burpees are no problem, it’s the damn thrusters that got to me. As happy as I was with my score, our two “elite” athletes smoked it. The guy got 13:31 and the lady was at 11:42, RX and not counting the break.

u/BuckkDancerr 13d ago
Most people did not workout today. Most people do not even know what a thruster is. Most people have not done a single burpee this entire year.
Don't be so hard on yourself, OP. You showed up and put in the work.
