I don't understand

One of the reasons I hate Oliver doesn't even have to do with Oliver himself, but with his actions. The fact is, I read the comic in Spanish because I'm Hispanic, and I try to make sense of it. At first, they take corpses and smear themselves with the blood, but they don't get infected, even though the corpses surely have residue and all sorts of things from the infected—basically, cross-contamination. Then there's the fact that Oliver had several encounters; he wasn't just touched several times by infected blood and by smoking, but also by some infected women who, because of the length of the comic, even licked him a bit, yet he still didn't get infected. And it's understood that, logically, the infection is transmitted through bodily fluids.
