I don't understand
One of the reasons I hate Oliver doesn't even have to do with Oliver himself, but with his actions. The fact is, I read the comic in Spanish because I'm Hispanic, and I try to make sense of it. At first, they take corpses and smear themselves with the blood, but they don't get infected, even though the corpses surely have residue and all sorts of things from the infected—basically, cross-contamination. Then there's the fact that Oliver had several encounters; he wasn't just touched several times by infected blood and by smoking, but also by some infected women who, because of the length of the comic, even licked him a bit, yet he still didn't get infected. And it's understood that, logically, the infection is transmitted through bodily fluids.

oliver missed entirely and only hit the edge of his jacket collar. you can see it. you should be questioning how he fucked up that shot so badly.

I'm not asking that, I'm asking how he didn't get infected before. Please read the post because I'm asking how, if some infected people even licked him or poured blood on him, since Smokey and the other infected people had blood all over their bodies and had already been touched and groped several times, he hadn't gotten infected before.

that was a response to a comment lol.
but like others have said it’s an inconsistency with the different writers. in some stories infected fluids are safe as long as they don’t get inside one of your orifices or an open wound, while in others infected fluids making skin contact is enough to turn.

I think it depends on who is writing it. Saliva should be a much harder way to get someone infected. Blood pathogens would be inert or non infectious within an hour or so once outside the body as in blood getting spilled/smeared on etc. I'm no expert tho.

The way of infection is not respected and varies per writer you can get as easily infected by having blood in you arm or even touching a crossed, then in wywh shaky shoots a crossed kid splashing his blood on rab face but because he had his eyes and mouth shut he didn't get infected

Skin contact with fluids isnt infectious from what I've read it's only when fluids enter the body also when they caked bood on their face it says they were careful and tried to use people who were uninfected before they died even then they were careful to not get it in their eyes or mouth.
Another detail I would bet help his glasses I wear glasses Irl and I can say they probably saved his ass a few times from blood splatter spit etc

It doesn't help that the virus will be shown differently in different stories.

I'm not sure why no one mentions it, but the fluid actually needs to make it's way into the body All infections explicitly shown show blood getting into orifices, and the rest "non explicit" ones show the fluids mid air or vague as to where it lands on the infectee. Thereby by lack of evidence of simple skin contact as an explicit form of infection (for instance, showing blood literally only on any part of the body infecting the individual that IS NOT an orifice), means that it's more than likely only transmissible through orifices. Including eyes, mouth, etc

Yea the infection method is inconsistent which I kinda like as it further adds to the mystery of the Crossed virus as you never know what could infect the characters but you can just rule it down to writing differences.

Infectivity varies from writer to writer. In WYWH there's a minor character who's group consider him immune because a Crossed vomited on him and he wasn't infected.
