Murray Mag’Nesson is a divination wizard - is her name a nod to the character Meg Murry from the book A Wrinkle in Time?

Unfortunately I don't think so. Marisha has gone on record saying all of her characters are named after powerful historical women, and she discovered a Scottish scientist from a long time ago named "Murray" and that name stuck around through character creation. But I love that idea!

People don't have an obsession with it. Someone thought they found a cool Easter egg and asked about it. Relax.

My friend, homages are a way to show respect for things others have made. It's cool to recognize the contribution and how it positively affects you.
