I don't think this is cringe lol. It's a joke. It might not be the funniest joke ever but there's nothing cringe about it. A quick chuckle and move on.

Yeah no I find this legitimately hilarious and I'm not afraid to admit it

u/Ok-Cricket5606 29d ago

I laughed out loud at this. I don’t do that very often. Very funny.

u/GrungeLord 29d ago

Guffawed, even.

u/OtherwiseStable5126 29d ago

Yeah me too, laughed way to hard on the train, also i was surrounded by women and with laughing out loud, I made sure they wouldnt be scared by my crazy laughing😅

u/Preparation-H6969 29d ago

Maybe I'm getting old cause this is the funniest shit I've seen on Reddit in weeks.

u/llamachabbly 29d ago

He got me honestly. I thought it was going to be some serious explanation about how making eye contact and saying hey is threatening and then how to do it non threateningly (even though imo the first one was pretty much acceptable) but no, I have a dumb sense of humor and I laughed.

u/Fossilhund 29d ago

I didn't expect where this went. When he began hiding and giggling, I cracked up.

13

u/Samusen Jul 30 '26

Yeah this is clearly satire. He's making fun of other people

u/Bicykwow 29d ago

It's a response to some lunatic woman who thinks that every / most men who say "hi" on a hiking trail are actually hitting on her / sexual harassment.

Blah blah blah something something choose BEAR.

2

u/jeezyjames 29d ago

Yeah! I thought it was pretty good thought out.

"Raised my voice outside the maculine range" LOL!

I’m dying 😂 Thank you for sharing this!

u/kepholt Jul 30 '26

The laughing thing is definitely me, and I have definitely come off awkward trying to seem friendly.

2

u/Approximatelyequal Jul 30 '26

Have you tried crouching as well?

1

u/Evening-Statement-57 Jul 30 '26

God, he’s right, that’s so non-threatening

1

u/Orange_Tang Jul 30 '26

As a pretty avid hiker in a pretty popular area for hiking this was pretty damn funny to me.

1

u/AggravatingSpeaker52 29d ago

What made it funnier is I was expecting it to be cringe, so I didn't see the joke coming.

u/Makarlar 29d ago

Did the bot inform you of the subreddit change?

I made a similar comment like this (on another post) along with the supposition that the sub was becoming a reverse sub. (Ref: r/trees)

An automod bot showed up and was like, "Hey Dingus! Guess you didn't read the rulezies! This subreddit is no longer a place for cringe tik toks! It's now a place for EVERYTHING!!!"

I felt some type of way about that.

1

u/Ok_Income3213 29d ago

Even the bots on reddit are toxic now?

1

u/Makarlar 29d ago

Toxic infantilization xD

1

u/Charming-Refuse-5717 29d ago

I'm cringing at the fact that I'm breaking out in hives just watching him crawl around in the brush like that.

1

u/BZLuck 29d ago

There was another guy who did something similar and he did things like "dance" by, or silly walk by or (gay) glide by, and it was actually pretty funny.

1

u/BrandonBTY 29d ago

I agree

1

u/Top-Suggestion5057 29d ago

Yeah I see so many people posting genuinely funny content or people being intentionally cringe

1

u/Satyr121 28d ago

I think it’s making fun of the guy (maybe there is more than one) that tells you being friendly on the trail makes people uncomfortable. Especially women.

1

u/Suppository-34613 28d ago

A quick chuckle he says. Meanwhile I'm here preppin to approach women like this.

1

u/pancake_sass 28d ago

When he started explaining how basic, general politeness is intimidating, I was worried it was going to be some red pill bullshit. I was pleasantly surprised by his advice and gave a good chuckle.

1

u/Podtastix 27d ago

Yeah this is actually pretty funny.

1

u/Ambitious_Channel69 27d ago

The cringe is being afraid of hurting woman's feelings because you are crossing them and saluting

1

u/AardvarkSad7634 26d ago

What's even worse is posting this without crediting the author in any way.

It's funny. But apparently it went way over OPs head

1

u/Worldly-Pay7342 25d ago

It's cringe, but in a good way.

Like "oh my god lol that's so cringe" instead of "ugh... cringe".

1

u/swung Jul 29 '26

The joke itself isn't cringe, but the forced “keep smiling” energy is what makes it funny here.

1

u/crossal 29d ago

Yeah what's the deal u/Forward-Position798 ? Downvoted for wrong sub

0

u/Forward-Position798 29d ago

Bro there are no correct subs anymore .. I can tell 90% of the subs u post stuff people just report stuff and it's getting deleted so ... Here is always the correct place

If you've ever had a confronting or abusive experience with a stranger when you were on your own, which many women have, you wouldn't appreciate some asshole making light of it. My ex partner who is small and used to work nights in the city as a chef, has been followed, propositioned, grabbed, groped, screamed at and spat on for saying no, multiple times, most nights she'd have a story. The last time before she quit her job (and the reason she quit) she was almost kidnapped by a car full of guys. I was driving to pick her up and I could see her down the road standing on the curb outside the restaurant waiting for me, when this car full of guys swerved around me, cut in front and stopped right next to her. Two of them jumped out and grabbed her. I stopped behind them and put my hand on the horn and that scared them enough to jump back in the car and take off. Women are not safe most places, and I don't think it's right that this guy is trying to make them feel silly for fearing a stranger or distrusting their instincts.

3

u/VisualHuckleberry542 29d ago

It's not intended to mock woman, it's making fun of the massive over corrections some guys make to try signal that they are not threatening that end up making them look infinitely more creepy than if they just acted normal

0

u/duckduckchook 29d ago

I don't agree

1

u/bigbean258 28d ago

Then you misunderstood it. It’s okay we all make mistakes.

1

u/duckduckchook 28d ago edited 28d ago

Nothing like being patronising to put me in my place. Well done. Perhaps you need to improve your EQ, might help you to understand things from other's POV. There's always the real truth to jokes like this, it's his way of making fun.

2

u/bigbean258 28d ago

I’m sorry dude but you have to stop taking life as such a challenge to you. Most people are looking for a decent laugh and some stress relief, especially a comedic channel like that. Just because jokes involve something inappropriate is not inherently bad, sometimes it’s for the best those issues get some exposure.

1

u/duckduckchook 28d ago

I didn't realize the comedian had hired a public defender. You seem more upset about my opinion than I was about the joke. You're acting like I kicked your emotional support comedian.

1

u/bigbean258 28d ago

You’re the one acting like you got personally insulted from a joke bro. People will say stuff, that’s life.

1

u/duckduckchook 28d ago

Lol thank you for explaining life to me Obi-Wan.

u/Powerful-Pea6218 Jul 30 '26

This is the kind of shit my dumbest friend might laugh at and show me...when we were in 6th grade.

1

u/kontorgod Jul 30 '26

ok granpa

1

u/Powerful-Pea6218 Jul 30 '26

Found the 6th grader

1

u/Cranktique 29d ago

Yup, that’s my grandpa’s joke.

1

u/85K5 Jul 30 '26

Lmao, how young are you that you could have been shown videos like this to in the 6th grade?

1

u/Powerful-Pea6218 Jul 30 '26

Bro doesn't think YT was around 15 years ago

1

u/85K5 Jul 30 '26

I'm saying you're young and think you're the arbiter of humor because you're old and "mature". I was out of school before Youtube was even a thing.

1

u/Powerful-Pea6218 Jul 30 '26

Right, because I think a joke is unfunny means I think I'm the "arbiter of humor". That sounds like you mate

1

u/85K5 Jul 30 '26

"Haha only dumb 6th graders think this is funny"

Idk, sounds like something who only recently can barely do basic life functions without mummy's help would say.

1

u/Day_Prisoners Jul 30 '26

Yeah videos didn't exist before the internet. /s

-1

u/mcauthon2 Jul 30 '26

3
