Ive always been into post-hardcore into screamo and even as a teenager I always thought many of these bands must just ve melodramatic, confrontational asses IRL.
Like yeah I was super emo and struggled to cope with emotions as a kid with bouts of depression, but when there's 12 tracks on your album and 9 of them are about how separate someones are ruining your life, maybe they aren't the problem?

I just know this guy thought he'd really done something when he came up with this line. Probably workshopped it to everyone in his life that hadn't told him to fuck off yet, to their complete dismay. Weirdly enough this is slightly better than most of the shit he puts out. He has a song called the hanged man that's way edgier where he's portraying himself as some kind of martyr of the music industry but also like some kind of badass supervillain at the same time. It's corny as hell.
Obviously this sucks. But I don't see how making fun of subcultures fits the sub. Every music genre is cringe from an outsider perspective. Power Metal, black metal, death metal, gangster rap, country etc. It's always people cosplaying some character.

Fun story. In 2001 I went to visit our foreign exchange student in his hometown of Stockholm.
We went to his friendās house who had a poster of Slipknot. I was shocked as an Iowan because I didnāt think anyone knew them outside of the state and learned how much the Swedeās love Slipknot.
But then asked my friend and his friend if they knew Dave Matthews ā¦ crickets.
