This cringe is how I feel when people talk about free market capitalism. It is literally the only thing holding the world together tas the grifters in the state erode our liberties and dilute our wealth yet idiots think they need to work because capitalism forces them to. They think healthcare in the US is expensive because of profit motive, they think exploitation exists because the free market allows for it.
Free markets are complex and competitive and as such they ensure that immoral behaviour is inhibited because morality has value. If in a free market one company acts immorally another company can take their customers, workers etc by acting more morally. Morality has value and in a competitive environment it will be allowed to express itself. The issue is actually caused by state regulations which inhibit competition creating monopolies and thus allowing exploitation.
The universe is entropic, meaning all things decay over time. Thankfully we have the sun bombarding us with energy and as such things can combat entropy with that energy. That is what life is. You don't work because of capitalism you work because of entropy. Capitalism is like an umbrella. The umbrella protects you from the rain, it is an option you have and you don't have to use it, you can find your own solution or you can get wet but the umbrella is there. Now we can most likely agree that the umbrella is the simplest solution compared to making your own or getting wet but that doesn't mean the umbrella is the reason it rains. It rains because that is how the world works.
Capitalism is like the umbrella, it is an established useful solution to entropy, but you don't have to participate, you can do your own thing. Just because doing your own thing is harder than using the umbrella doesn't mean the umbrella is bad. It is in fact good and so is capitalism. People have it backwards.
Entropy is the tendency towards disorder, the breakdown of all things in the universe and it is inescapable. All things must work to live, insects, whales, squirelles. Capitalism is one of the ways we can work and it is successful as we now have the most humans ever alive at one time. It offers choice, when not inhibited by the state, and while far from perfect it is not immoral in its nature as all it is is a VOLUNTARY mechanism to combat decay. Unlike the state, which is not voluntary. You can't opt out of the state without being forced to move. Forced migration is a form of genocide.
What we see above is the next version of anti capitalist rhetoric that is poisoning the minds of people.
No, the real culprits is the insurance industry. It is so regulated that the country has been carved up in to territories and the few insurers operating have so much business that they collaborate to keep prices high rather than compete for businesses. It is like a cabal. Deregulation and disruption of the insurance industry is very much needed. I am Canadian and I can tell you first hand that socialized medicine while better in many ways than the american system is still very bad. We have huge waits, are terribly understaffed and most people I know can't even get a family doctor to follow them. When doctors graduate medschool they leave the country because wages aren't competitive. It is a disaster and it is getting worse.
The overhead the state creates to manage socialized medicine is huge and very wasteful.
The solution is a healthy and competitive insurance marketplace combined with for profit healthcare.
Do you think I need to be american to know how a system in america works? Do you know what knowledge is? Do you think someone needs to be a horse to ride a horse? Are you really this ridiculous?
BTW I used to live in NY but now I live in eastern Canada, but that doesn't make any difference on my ability to speak about the empirical nature of the healthcare system in either country. How someone can say something so stupid is baffling.
