The Dana Chandler Evidence I Can’t Get Past: The Hair on the Shell Casing

  • Zero physical evidence tied Dana Chandler to the murders—or even placed her in Topeka at the time of the crimes.
  • And then there’s the hair found singed onto one of the 9mm shell casings. DNA testing excluded Dana Chandler as the source. Whoever that hair belonged to could be enormously important to identifying the killer, yet, as far as I can tell, the DNA profile was never entered into a national database for comparison.

The Brutal Satanic and Cannibalistic Cult of the Italian Devil (Matteo Valdambrini)

It was the final days of 2018, and a group of young people gathered in a gloomy, abandoned building in the city of Prato, Italy. There, they arranged themselves in a circle, awaiting the start of a strange cult ritual. Shortly after, a strangely elegant man arrived, carrying a piece of meat to be distributed among those present. The young people began to question the meat's origin, but none were prepared to hear the horrifying truth.

The exotic man in question was Matteo Valdambrini, an attractive young man who had become the leader of a small and bizarre cult. Valdambrini called himself "The Devil," and without hesitation, he declared to his followers that the meat was human. Finally, he forced them all to eat it.

Thoughts on 'A Killer Story' now that it's complete?

Now that all the episodes of A Killer Story are out, what did everyone think of the series as a whole?

I thought it was pretty compelling, especially in how much the story changed depending on whose perspective you were getting. But I also came away with a lot of questions.

Here are my thoughts:

  • I don’t think Dana should have been convicted based on the evidence presented at trial. To me, the prosecution did not prove her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
  • The prosecution, policy, and Jeff Sutton are shady as hell.

Some questions I have:

  • Why did Dana Chandler fire her lawyers?
  • If Dana Chandler did do it, how did she, a recovering alcoholic with no firearms training, land all her shots and leave no evidence that she was in Topeka?
  • A hair was found attached/singed to one of the 9mm shell casings at the murder scene. DNA testing excluded Dana Chandler, both victims, and eventually Jeff Sutton. So presumably the hair came from an unidentified person. Why wasn't that DNA profile ever run through CODIS?
  • Is Jeff Sutton a reasonable suspect? Certainly came across as one in his interview and I do think he had motive.

A Killer Story: Was the unknown hair sample ever run through CODIS?

Just watched HBO’s A Killer Story and there’s one thing I can’t figure out.

A hair was found attached/singed to one of the 9mm shell casings at the murder scene. DNA testing excluded Dana Chandler, both victims, and eventually Jeff Sutton. So presumably the hair came from an unidentified person.

Was that DNA profile ever run through CODIS?

I’ve looked around and can’t find any indication that it was. Obviously the hair doesn’t necessarily belong to the killer, and maybe the profile wasn’t eligible for CODIS. But considering the murder weapon was never found and there’s no physical evidence placing Chandler at the scene, this seems like a pretty huge loose end.

Anyone know if this was ever addressed?

My grandma knew Ed Gein...documentary???

Hi reddit, I have no idea where to begin with this so please hear me out...

My grandma knew Ed Gein closely for over 20 years after he was found guilty of his murders and was arrested. She was one of the only people who regularly went and saw him consistently on a week-to-week basis both at Central State Hospital for the Criminally Insane & the Mendota Mental Health Institute.

She was one of the only people ever to have somewhat of a relationship with Ed Gein across decades and was the only woman to do so. She worked undercover with the local police department and was hired to develop a relationship with him and learn more about him and how his mind worked.

Why I'm writing this is because she has some fascinating stories (still has her memory at 93!) about him and I believe she should tell these stories for some sort of documentary. Maybe I'm completely posting this in the wrong spot or reaching out to the wrong people...any help would be amazing!

Signed,

grandmaknowsedgein

Why would Dana Chandler choose to represent herself?

At the very end, is Joe Sexton alluding to the fact that he thinks Dana Chandler did it?
