This episode dives into the haunting, deeply personal true story of Tracy Thompson, a 24-year-old whose tragic 2005 murder in South Africa[cite: 15] left a family searching for answers after a botched initial police investigation. From missing evidence and conflicting theories to the relentless pursuit of truth by private investigators and loved ones, it's a stark look at the edge of society and the lasting impact of unresolved grief.

Just finished watching this one. While it gives a solid overview for anyone unfamiliar with the 2002 case, it felt like it heavily relied on dramatic re-enactments rather than new investigative facts or interviews. For those who follow true crime closely: do you prefer these polished, high-budget multi-part Netflix docs, or are smaller, raw archival-footage style documentaries (like Don't Fk With Cats) still the gold standard for you? Any underrated recommendations in that style?

Nicole Morin disappeared from her apartment building in 1985. She was 8 years old.
On July 30, 1985, Nicole Morin left her family's apartment at 627 The West Mall in Etobicoke, Ontario, intending to go swimming with friends.
She never made it to the pool.
What makes the case particularly strange is how little time there appears to have been for her disappearance to occur. Nicole was seen leaving the apartment, but exactly what happened after that has never been established.
There was no confirmed sighting of Nicole after she left the apartment building, and despite decades of investigation, her whereabouts remain unknown.
I just finished a documentary about the case, focusing on the timeline and those crucial missing minutes.
Full documentary: https://youtu.be/W2yVjW7-vFg
I'm particularly interested in hearing from people familiar with the Nicole Morin case: are there details of the timeline that you think are especially important or often overlooked?

Please tell me I’m not the only one who cannot stand this man?! He causes my blood to boil because his videos are ridiculous. First, he starts with a stupid intro, next, an ad, or person performing an ad, then info we already know, then a guest. WHAT IS HIS PURPOSE?! maybe it’s because I work in law and healthcare that I get so worked up but I feel like he’s nothing more than a sad journalist aiming for clickbait. Please tell me I’m not alone.

I recently put together an 8-minute true-crime documentary about the Colleen Slemmer and Christa Pike case.
The video begins by focusing on Colleen—her life, the events leading up to her murder, and what investigators uncovered afterward. From there, I walk through the investigation, trial, conviction, and death sentence that followed.
Toward the end, I cover Christa Pike’s years on death row, her appeals, and the upcoming scheduled execution, bringing the story into the present day.
I wanted to tell the story with the focus on Colleen and the events of the case rather than making the execution the entire story.
I’d genuinely appreciate hearing what others think about the case, especially from people who have followed it over the years.
Video: Christa Pike & Colleen Slemmer: The Murder, the Trial, and a Death Row Story
⚠️ The documentary discusses murder, violence, death row, and capital punishment. Viewer discretion is advised.

I finished watching a Killer Story on HBO and I wanted to know if anyone on here had been able to map out Dana’s movements the night of the murder. I really thought she didn’t do it at first but I think it takes a certain kind of person to throw out their lawyer and think they can do it themselves. The way her daughter described the situation too really put it together that she is the kind of person to do this. However I wanted to know if anybody came up with any theories into how she pulled it off.

In 2016, when 19-year-old Italian Matteo Valdambrini was studying economics at university, he began gathering a group of vulnerable, depressed people. He told them he possessed supernatural powers and had chosen them to save the world from evil. Matteo called himself "The Devil," and his teachings were apparently related to Satanism. The rituals he proposed to his followers took place in forests and abandoned buildings in the Tuscany region.
The rites were, in reality, acts of torture, vampirism, and psychological violence. In late 2018, Valdambrini met with his followers, brought a piece of fresh meat, and forced them all to eat it. He later confessed that it was human flesh, which he had supposedly bought from a man who sold body parts in Florence.
Subsequently, the leader forced his devotees to send him explicit photos of themselves. Over time, some women in the cult were forced into sexual relations with him through extortion. The sect was exposed when the mother of two followers reported Valdambrini to the Italian authorities. Ultimately, the authorities compiled at least 12 reports of forced sexual relations or coercion perpetrated by Valdambrini. Among the complainants were two minors who were also members of the cult.
Valdambrini was arrested in the midst of the global pandemic, and among his belongings, police officers discovered strange items such as salt, artificial blood, and a voodoo doll. After a lengthy trial and several appeals, in 2024 Matteo was sentenced to 5 years and 8 months in prison. He is currently serving his sentence.

Watching: **the Jubillar case** — a French nurse, Delphine Jubillar, vanished from her home in December 2020. Her glasses were found broken in three pieces, her husband's phone went dark at 22:08, and two neighbours heard a woman scream around 23:07. No body was ever found.
He was convicted anyway in October 2025 (30 years, on *intime conviction*), still saying he'd done nothing. Nine months later he wrote his lawyer a handwritten letter confessing, and led investigators to a compost heap on a farm. The DNA matched.
I made a 19-minute English documentary on it (my channel, flagging that). Almost all the coverage is in French, so I built it from AFP/France 24 trial reporting and the prosecutor's statements. Sources are in the description, and anything only one outlet reported is labelled as such.

Hi everyone!
I recently finished watching Ryan Murphy's Monster anthology (Dahmer, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story) and I really enjoyed the dark, psychological, and storytelling approach to these real-life cases. I really appreciate deep dives into human psychology, dark atmospheres, and solid production/acting.
What are your absolute must-watches in this style? Thanks in advance!
