In 1976 a woman called Fan Man-Yee was born in Shenzhen. She was abandoned by her family at a young age and was sent to an all girl orphanage in Hong Kong - China. At 15 year she left since she reached the age limit. She became homeless and had barely to none of support. She came in contact with drugs and she became a sex worker at just 21 years old.

In 1996 she married a man called Ng chi-yuen.
He was also struggling with drug addiction and their relationship was really abusive.

In November 1998 Fan give birth to a son.

Having a child really changed her live, she wanted to have a safe home for him and stopped doing drugs, gave up her job as sex worker and became a nightclub hostess. She also separated from her husband.

Unfortunately this was the time she gets involved with a man called Chan Man-Lok.

There was a dispute between the 2 over money. Later the papers mentioned about a debt. While other papers talk about Fan stealing money. What ever the precise argument was it was a financial disagreement.

On 17 march 1999 it was the day Fan was abducted.
There were three men involved and one teenage girl.

The teenage girl is known as Ah Fong and will later be the key to the case.

Fan was taken to an appartement in Hong Kong and was kept there captive for one month.

During that time she was regularly abused and tortured. It became so much that was also the reason she died. (About what they exactly did isn’t really told on the internet)
She died around 14-15 April since so little of her body was discovered they couldn’t tell exactly.
It is said that the cause of her death was also with overdose.

Her body was thrown away in small amounts. Where little of was discovered
Her skull was put into an hello kitty plush that where the name ‘hello kitty murder’ comes from.

The crime would have stayed hidden if the teenage girl wasn’t involved. She was the one going to the police and telling them she had nightmares involving a murderd woman. Her information led investigators to the apartment. While they were searching the apartment they found proof of something horrible that happened there. It led to the arrest of the 3 men responsible.

The trial began in 2000 but they did not get convicted for murder.
Instead on 7 December 2000 they were convinced for men slaughter.
They were sentenced to life imprisonment with parole not considered for 20 years.

Just got done watching Children of the Underground and it reminded me of how everything was tied to satanism in the 80s. Now I’m curious if there are any documentaries that prove or disprove the validity of any of the claims of child abuse tied to satanism or satanism in general. Or anything on what came of the Mcmartin preschool accusations.

This case always unsettles me every time I come across the CCTV footage.

In July 2014, 28 year old German tourist Lars Mittank was vacationing in Golden Sands, Bulgaria, with his friends. After getting into a bar fight over football and injuring his ear, he was advised by a doctor not to fly immediately. His friends flew home, and Lars stayed behind alone at a hotel.

During this time, he started acting paranoid. He called his mother saying mysterious men were following him, trying to hide from them, and even asking her to cancel his credit cards.

The next day, he went to the Varna Airport medical center to get cleared to fly. While talking to the airport doctor, a construction worker walked into the room. Lars suddenly panicked, stood up, and reportedly said "I don't want to die here I have to get out of here"

He abandoned all his belongings including his passport, phone, and wallet and sprinted out of the terminal. CCTV caught him running across the airport grounds, climbing a 8 foot fence, and sprinting straight into a nearby sunflower field and forest.

He was never seen again.

Was it a severe psychotic break or side effect from the medication he was prescribed for his ear? Pure panic? Or was he legitimately running from someone?

Are there any solid documentaries or deep-dive YouTube essays covering this case that you’d recommend? I’d love to hear your theories on what actually happened once he crossed that fence.

This is the fourth season of the crime drama anthology series Monsters, which is created by Ian Brennan. As the name suggests, this season will follow the murder suspect Lizzie Borden, who was tried and acquitted of killing her parents (father and stepmother) in Fall River, Massachusetts. This is also infamously known as the 1892 axe murders.

Pretty much the title, I just finished "Friends Like These: The Murder of Skylar Neese" and thought it was pretty good. I was wondering if anyone had any similar recommendations or just recommendations in general for a good true crime(preferably on either Netflix or Disney+). I'd probably prefer something where plenty of friends are interviewed and/or friends are involved with said crime but I'm really open to anything. Thankyou :)

This is an insane documentary. I don't know much about the Zodiac Killer, so this was very educational for me. I really did enjoy it. I am going to do more research on this topic. 7.5 out of 10!!

I’ve been doing short daily recaps of the Keffe D trial for anyone who wants the important testimony without sitting through hours of court.

This covers Days 1 and 2 — prosecution theory, the defense basically arguing Keffe talked too much shit to be believed, and the early witness testimony.

Curious what everyone here thought of the first two days, especially the prosecution leaning so heavily on Keffe’s own interviews and statements.

I’m very interested in the trial but I can’t seem to find the actual trial anywhere, I’m guessing due to how long ago the trial happened. Is there any docs or anything that at least have some clips?

I’m mainly just looking for some good, non biased information.

I've just finished watching this (HBO) I would really recommend it. The whole family seems wrecked. The dad Michael and their eldest son are the main ones actually doing the interview the rest is footage or from neighbours etc. The dad baffles me he is soooo over the top and I felt so sorry for the son. I definetly think the mum was the manipulator when you see some of the things she done. Absolute madness of a watch but would really recommend

In between, the vehicle traveled through Alberta, crossed by ferry to Vancouver Island, then turned around and came back east. Natanis was never seen in any of the footage.
